The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal to lawyer Edmund Bon Tai Soon from a

charge with obstructing a Kuala Lumpur City Hall (BDKL) officer from discharging his duty in 2007.

Judge SM Komathy Suppiah handed down the ruling following an application by deputy public prosecutor Lee Keng Fatt to drop the case.

However, Lee did not state any reason for doing so.

Edmund Bon was alleged to have obstructed a DBKL enforcement officer from removing a banner in front of the Bar Council office in Jalan Lebuh Pasar at about 12.15pm on Dec 9, 2007.

The court also allowed an application by the defence for the return of three banners by DBKL.

Edmund Bon, 35, who was represented by lawyers P Puravelan and Amer Hamzah Arshad, had sent a representation to the Attorney-General's Chambers early this year.
