The Youth wing of PKR expressed concern today over what it described as the possibility of the young voters shifting allegiance to the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next general election.

Speaking at the wing's congress in Kota Bharu, PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said there was a real possibility of such a shift "if we continue doing what Umno and the BN had been doing in the past."

"It is clear that Umno and the BN have learned a lesson on the role played by the young voters.

"We should remember this. We should not be doing what the Umno and BN of the old days were doing," he said in his speech.

He also expressed disappointment over what he said the lack of recognition towards the younger generation in the party, with some accusing the movement of being "power-crazy."

"It is unfortunate that we are seen in a negative light when we are in fact contributing towards strengthening the party," he said.

Meanwhile, PKR Wanita chief slammed party-hoppers, with its chief Zuraidah Kamaruddin describing those who left the party as "babies born prematurely."

"PKR is a new party and is susceptible to giving births to premature babies.

"Those who stay with the party are special ones while those who left are immature people," she said.

She expressed pride at the fact that no women representatives had left the party so far.
