Hisham, Nazri, Rais to head anti-false news panel

Au fait: The dissemination of false news is done every minute by the mainstream media. These three stooges - Hishammuddin Hussein, Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz and Rais Yatim - will have a tough time trying to formulate communication strategies to counter alternative news operators like Malaysiakini and the opposition papers.

I believe the actual terms of reference for these three stooges are to ensure that truth will not be told to the rakyat and more false news be churned out. The discerning rakyat will not listen anymore to the mainstream media because we now have non-thinking leaders amidst a thinking rakyat.

Joe: Umno has thrown up three stooges to be our guardians of truth. One of them is none other than our minister of propaganda, a long-winded chap who would mouth 1,000 words when only 10 would do. He once did a thesis and published a book decrying the emasculation of our judiciary by Dr Mahathir Mohamad. He subsequently, like furry rodents, abandoned his previous sinking ship and swam back to Mahathir's Umno.

The second member of the inquisition is the tough-talking Nazri, the Clint Eastwood of Umno, who would shoot from the hip, and call a mamak a mamak .

The third, Hishammuddin, is the ‘wunderbar' of the Home Ministry. This chap is in the running with Ibrahim Ali for the National Buffoon Award. Not long ago, he banned comics, suspecting they could harbour certain dangerous falsehoods that will turn the people against the BN-Umno government.

The boss, having seen the light and after some hesitation (read: flip flop) agreed to create the anti-falsehood panel and turn it into a super-ministry, combining the ministries of the three loony toons to be named ‘Ministry of Truth, Justice and Laughter' and with the purpose of synergising the combined intellect of these three Umno ‘heavyweights'.

With Umno finally gaining full control of truth and achieving enlightenment, our 1Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is now in a position to dispel rumours, lies and falsehoods spread by the opposition. The rakyat, in particular the Umnoputras, won't have to be confused and disheartened by the negative reports they hear about the government anymore.

Nirmala An excellent move. This can begin with the government being more truthful in all its statements about law enforcement and education, and not making meaningless statements in and outside the Parliament.

A local survey by Business Ethics Institute has shown that among the many professions, trust in politicians is about the lowest. I think we're thinking mainly of BN politicians.

What is the truth when it comes to Altantuya Shaariibuu, the Scorpene submarines, PKFZ, PI P Balasubramaniam, Teoh Beng Hock, Petronas, Felda, Sime Darby, the Terengganu stadium, Monsoon Cup, petroleum royalty, Sabah IC scandal, Perak coup, the Mohd Khir Toyo and Zakaria palaces, MAS, Perwaja, Bank Bumiputera, Carrian, the groper-ambassador, the child-rapist politician, the money-smuggler MB , the chief minister with the FBI as tenant in one of his US property, the Hong Kong money-laundering CM, and so on?

Koh Stanley: These three stooges confirm the truism that it is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong.

MIC boss defends his 32-year leadership

Myrights: To people like S Samy Vellu, the Indians are divided as long as they don't support him. Just like the way Umno always claim that Malays are divided because they are not getting the support from many progressive-thinking Malays. These politicians think that they are the only ones who know best.

The fact that so many Indians are living below poverty level even after his 32 years of leadership shows how disconnected Samy is from reality. My question to Samy is: why can't Indians be united under a different leadership? Why can't Indians be united under the Pakatan Rakyat government?

KSN: Samy, do you not know why there are splinter parties, NGOs, disunity, dissatisfaction, anger, frustration, sadness among the Indians though they make up only about eight percent of our population? It is the neglect and marginalisation inflicted on the community by you, MIC, Umno/BN/Mahathir for the last 30-over years.

Have you not once asked yourself, looking at the advances the Malays and Chinese and the country have made in the past 30 years, why the Indians are in this state?

Have you not failed them as president of MIC, which is part of the government? If you answer that question honestly, you have a lot to be ashamed of - about your leadership of the Indians and for betraying them. Remember that most Tamil makkal (people) are the descendents of estate labourers who need help and support.

Anonymous: Thirty-two years in leadership and yet you could not get the two Mt Everest climbers, N Mohanadas and M Magendran, awarded with datukship. Where is your pride in fighting for the Indian community all these years?

It took Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and Deputy Chief Minister P Ramasamy less than two years to do to that .

Cala: Has PM Najib been fair to Samy Vellu/MIC? Two issues beg closer scrutiny:

i) Is the house of MIC in order?

ii) Why can't MIC work with Indian-based NGOs?

First, it can be looked upon as Najib slapping Samy's face with his right hand, and immediately using his left hand to caress it. Who set fire on the house of MIC in the first place? Who has marginalised Indians? Why are the Indians becoming the most pathetic group?

Second, for Najib to ask the question is oxymoronic. The relationship between Najib and Indian-based NGOs is one of donor-recipient, whereas MIC and Indian-based NGOs relationship is about rivalry in competition for Najib's love.

In sum hence, Najib for obvious reason has not been fair in his treatment of Samy Vellu/MIC.
