PKR has published and distributed its latest party organ in the face of a home ministry ban last week on their Suara Keadilan .

The current issue, called simply Keadilan , hit news stands today.

NONE " Keadilan was published this evening. It has already been distributed to all the states, except for Sabah, Sarawak. I am reading a copy. I want to see what action the Home Ministry will take," tweeted PKR deputy vice-president Syed Husin Ali ( right ) last night.

Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein has said PKR is courting trouble and risking a "physical shutdown" should they persist in their "arrogance" and "disregard for the law of the land".

Although the minister did not elaborate on the nature of "physical shutdown" it is possible the premises and equipment of both the party organ and the printers may be seized.

Hishammuddin said that the ministry was considering all possibilities and has briefed the ministry's Publication and Quranic Text Control Division director Zaitun Abd Samad on the matter.

suara keadilan 100210 bala implicate nasir PKR leaders such as director of politics and strategy Tian Chua have said their party mouthpiece will continue to print despite the order to cease printing.

Chua said it is common practice for all publications to continue printing while waiting for the ministry to renew their publication permits.

Other than the absence of the word 'Suara' from its name to differentiate it from the banned publication,  Keadilan , is also unserialised.

No 'Suara'

Questioned about this, chief editor Dzulkarnain Taib told Malaysiakini that being unserialised allowed the party to publish Keadilan as a 'one-off' issue given Suara Keadilan 's publishing permit was not renewed.

"If we published it one-off, we don't need a permit since parties are allowed to do so.

This step was taken to show how we are prepared to face the challenge and pressure from the Home Ministry," he said.

Dzulkarnain said further that Keadilan was published by PKR Youth, whereas Suara Keadilan had been published by Pelita Koridor, whose permit to print the party organ has yet to be renewed.

This arrangement will continue into next week, he added.

"It can be Pelita Keadilan , or whatever. (But) We will stick with the name 'Keadilan'.

Dzulkarnain stressed, however, that efforts will continue to get a renewal of the permit to publish Suara Keadilan .

suara keadilan report on felda bankrupt 220610 On July 2, the Home Ministry suspended Suara Keadilan 's publishing permit for running foul of the Printing Presses and Publication Act (PPPA).

The ministry said it was not satisfied with the explanation provided by the weekly tabloid for its report alleging that Felda was bankrupt.

In going against the ministry’s stop-print order following the non-renewal of its publication permit, the publication and the party risks physical shutdown after the home minister vowed action against any move to defy its orders.
