The Penang Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is to meet on Wednesday to decide whom to call up for its inquiry into the alleged sand theft in Kampung Kenanga, Balik Pulau, near Georgetown.

Its chairperson Jagdeep Singh Deo said several government agencies might be asked to help find out who the sand thieves were.

The PAC was expected to complete the investigation within a month to avert any speculation by the people in the matter, he told reporters.

Jagdeep Singh, who is the state assemblyperson for Datuk Keramat, said the PAC members would also visit Kampung Kenanga.

"People who have information on the matter are advised to come forward and help in the investigation," he said.

It was reported last week that thieves were carting away sand from a site earmarked for a polytechnic in Kampung Kenanga.

Jagdeep Singh said the PAC had not received any report of sand theft in other places in the state.
