'Desperation now also has a face'

Penang CM: 'Little Napoleon' now has a face

Sarawakian: CM Lim Guan Eng, you are doing a great job. Don't be cowed by these Umno goons. I wish Sarawak had a CM like you. These people no longer have the opportunity to dip their soiled hands into the state kitty, and they are incensed by this. Go ahead and dig up all the dirt on them and take back the money they have stolen in the past. We are all with you on this one.

Isana: Desperation now also has a face, and it is showing the big bad face of Umno. In Selangor, they try to use the sand issue to destabilise the state government, and in Penang they try the same trick. Umno is using all the under-handed tactics to undermine Pakatan-ruled states, and this includes instructing and authorising federal-appointed officers to not cooperate with the state government.

There are so many issues against Umno/BN and they know the rakyat are rising against them, so desperate measures are needed to divert the rakyat's attention.

Susah Kes: Guan Eng's government announces a 12 percent savings in operating expenditure, and yet, the Prime Minister's Office spends RM4 billion. So, who do you want to be running the show in Putrajaya?

Swipenter: LGE (Lim Guan Eng) is cutting off the sources of side-income from those who are presented with 'all kind opportunities' to make extra money and this is well appreciated by the rakyat. In doing so, we must stand by him and fight this scourge.

It is understandable that those affected are very angry at him for lowering their standard of living. Many may find themselves really living beyond their means now, ie, really not having enough to sustain an ostentatious lifestyle like before.

Raja Chulan: The 'little Napoleans' aka Umno warlords are in partnership with a huge majority of civil servants who live on corruption and abuse of power. They know no shame. I really hope that the next general election will see more clean state governments such as Penang.

ONG: LGE is wrong when he said, "No chief minister dares to upbraid a civil servant." I used to be a senior civil servant for many years and can say with 100 percent certainty that I have never come across a civil servant who dared to be so insolent towards a CM or an MB.

Therefore, the question of daring to upbraid a civil servant never arises because until Nik Ali Mat Yunus' extreme insolence, there has never been the need to do so. I dare say that Nik Ali must be the first civil servant who dares to publicly chastise a CM, and using a political party as the forum to do so.

Concern_Father: The sad thing is that the mainstream media is reporting otherwise. Thank God, we have uncensored Internet. I hope more Malays read both pro-BN and pro-Pakatan Rakyat reports and make their own judgement.

If one only read pro-BN articles, he/she would say LGE is anti-Malay and is not fit to become CM, etc. Spin doctors can do their work in the mainstream media. Only when they go to the Internet to research the claim made would they realise that what is said is not true. We need more CMs like LGE.

Analyse this: De Niro to visit M'sia on Rosmah invite

Louis: While the poor tighten their belts and eking out a meagre earning just to put two simple meals for their children, Rosmah Mansor is doing duets with the likes of Lionel Richie and Jamie Foxx.

Who is picking up the bill for De Niro visit? Have a heart for the sufferings, help to reduce government expenditure.

R1Biker: Why not make Rosmah the tourism minister and replace the current one that we have. At the same time, we can make her foreign minister too.

Artchan: While Robert De Niro is here, don't forget to give him a Datuk award, and he can go back to Hollywood and promote Malaysia, like what Shah Rukh Khan did for India. After the Shah Rukh Khan award, millions and millions of Indian tourists are visiting us.

Call Me Jibby: All six wifes of previous prime ministers live a humble and low profile life but this first lady wannabe likes to live a life like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan - wasting taxpayers' money to go overseas shopping, attending unnecessary events, organising useless programmes, and rubbing shoulders with Hollywood (and Bollywood) superstars. And she wants her pictures in the newspapers and magazines everyday.

Longjaffar: I wonder whether the government spent any money in bringing all the celebrities, such as Gordon Ramsay, Martha Stewart, and now Robert De Niro. Someone should ask this in Parliament.

Based on the PM's wife's comments, both the US embassy in Malaysia and the Malaysian embassy in Washington have failed miserably to warrant the PM's wife herself to travel so far to provide a true picture of our country.

State of human rights 'worsening under Najib'

Joe: The escalation of human right violations under this present BN-Umno regime does not come as any surprise to Malaysians. The present situation is a reflection of the leadership of Umno in the government. Umno politicians are sleazy, sinister and scandalous.

In Hishammuddin Hussein, the home minister, you have Umno's bouncer going all out to quell the opposition and suppress the people from knowing the truth about what is happening around them as the Umno politicians and their cronies rip off and squander away the wealth of our nation. The repression will increase as opposition to the BN-Umno regime grows.

MACC panel: Three high-profile cases closed

Agent99: Closing two BN cases is being justified by closing one Pakatan case, although there is an enormous gap in the monetary value between these cases. This is done so that Pakatan supporters can't complain that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is unfair? MACC found that Khalid's case is a public event and it took two years to realise that?

Thank you MACC, for updating the public but I believe there are more high-profile cases that are still pending decision. Let us know their status please.

Ferdtan: The law of compensation is being used here. Two cases from BN (obviously bad corruption cases) against one from Pakatan (insignificant case, which is more of harassment by MACC).

So who is big enough to offset mighty Dr Mohd Khir Toyo's corruption cases?
