Penangites ask Koh: Are you trying to salvage the fortunes of certain politicians?

Penang's Central Adhoc No-Porr Committee has asked Chief Minister Dr Koh Tsu Koon in an open letter whether his motivation behind the project was to "salvage the battered fortunes of certain politicians in the ruling party".

In the letter, the committee said that residents were gravely concerned that Koh's "vigorous" defence of the Porr project and concessionaire Peninsular Metro Works Sdn Bhd was not actually about proper traffic management.

The Nov 11 letter was sent to the chief minister a long time ago. Getting no response from him, malaysiakini understands that the No-Porr Committee then decided to turn it into an open letter.

The committee said in the letter that their concerns stem from the amount of time and energy Koh had spent promoting Porr, which they said "contrasts sharply with the half-hearted way the state has gone about in trying to improve the island's bus services".
