The National Service (NS) Training Council will meet again to further discuss a proposal to include sex education in its training module.

Its chairman, Tiki Lafe, said the council had, in fact, accepted it in principle.

"However, we are facing teething problems in implementing it," he told reporters after officiating the joint passing-out ceremony for 424 trainees of the NS Third Group, Seventh Series 2010 from the Junaco Park and Bumimas camps at the Junaco Park parade ground in Sibu today.

NONE He said the council would have to decide how, when and where to begin as sex education was partly taught at 78 camps nationwide.

Dr Tiki said that in a recent discussion, Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin ( left ) felt that sex education should be taught at school-level.

On cases where NS trainees were found to be pregnant while attending training sessions, he appealed to parents, husbands or their boyfriends to help the council.

Dr Tiki supported the idea of swimming pools in camps as alternative for water-based activities to protect trainees from contagious diseases.
