MAS extends contract of two top officials
National flag carrier Malaysia Airlines said it will extend the contracts of its two top officials as it steps up efforts to return to profit.
Chairman Azizan Zainul Abidin had his contract extended by a year to February next year, the company said in a statement late Thursday. Managing director Mohamad Nor Yusof's contract has been extended by two years to February 2005.
The duo were appointed in February 2001 to revive the ailing airline after the government purchased the controlling stake from tycoon Tajudin Ramli.

newspaper today said the first of three Airbus A300-200 aircraft leased to increase capacity arrived Thursday. The other two were due to be delivered by the end of the month.The carrier recently announced plans for additional flights to Europe, Australia and New Zealand from the end of March.
Malaysia Airlines is also expected to lease five Boeing 737s this year in response to rising demand. The airline has said it expects to return to profit this year. AFP
