The discrepancies in the three Kuala Lumpur Hospital (KLH) doctors testimonies will come to light once the defence starts its cross-examination, lawyer Sankara Nair said after the ongoing sodomy trial of PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim.

The trial had resumed today and the court stood down at 12 noon, to resume on Oct 25.

NONE Anwar, who is charged with sodomising Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan ( right in photo ), also pointed out the discrepancies.

He said the chemist report, which the doctors had obtained earlier, was in contrast with their prepared report dated July 13.

The chemist report had stated there were male DNA samples found on the four cotton swabs which were retrieved from Saiful's anus.

However the doctors reported in their findings that there was no penetration of the anal region.

But the doctors when placed on the stand today, claimed that sodomy had indeed taken place.

"It seems the doctors are changing their testimonies when coming for this trial, compared to what they stated in the report which all three signed.

"This is despite the chemist report that had been given to them earlier, and now there is this contradiction with the doctors' medical report and their testimony, " said Anwar.

"All this would be addressed when the doctors are cross-examined later. There is certainly a conspiracy," he told reporters after the trial.

Dr Siew Sheue Feng, and Dr Khairul Nizam Hassan had earlier told the Kuala Lumpur High Court today, that in comparing the chemist report and identification of the sites of sampling they ruled there was penile penetration i.e. Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan had been sodomised following the discovery of male DNA from four cotton swabs.

  No suggestion of penetration

Sankara ( right ) said the chemist report was dated July 11, 2008. The doctors in their report dated two days later, related there was "no conclusive clinical findings suggestive of penetration to the anus/rectum and no significant defensive wound on the body of the patient".

The report further stated the presence of male DNA from four cotton swabs taken, were best interpreted with the identification of the sites of sampling.

Sankara said they could not comment further on the matter as it may affect the case for the defence.

However he added the defence had decided that all the doctors would testify first and then they will cross-examine later.

"We will decide on the order in calling the doctors after consulting with our specialist," he said.

NONE Dr David Wells ( left ) from Australia, who was hired by Anwar's defence team as its forensic specialist, was present in court today to observe the evidence given by the three KLH doctors.

The three doctors Dr Mohd Razali Ibrahim, Dr Siew Sheue Feng and Dr Khairul Nizam Hassan were seen leaving the court witness room under police escort, accompanied by investigating officer DSP Jude Blacious Pereira.

Sankara said they had to work out the schedule in questioning the doctors as the DPP Noordin Hassan, who questioned them is also scheduled to perform the haj.

While the trial will continue on Oct 25, the court has also fixed several days in November and December to continue the hearing.
