'Perkasa is a subset of Umno'

vox populi small thumbnail 'Of course, Umno will survive Perkasa. Similarly, Perkasa will survive through Umno. They are co-existing partners.'

Nazri: Umno will survive Perkasa

Change Agent: More nonsense talk from Nazri Abdul Aziz, the supposed self-proclaimed believer in freedom of expression. A total of 120,000 Umno members were given the freedom to join radical Malay-supremacist group Perkasa, but young children do not have the same privilege to hold a peaceful anti-ISA peaceful candlelight vigil outside a shopping mall.

Teh: The fact is Umno treats Perkasa with much patience and understanding while other NGOs are acted upon harshly using the might of the police force and the ISA. This shows Umno's soft spot for Perkasa. Perkasa is a subset of Umno. Of course, Umno will survive Perkasa. Similarly, Perkasa will survive through Umno. They are co-existing partners.

Art Chan: Charge these Perkasa goons with sedition - surely you can influence that, Nazri. Then with the judiciary seemingly under the control of the government, ensure that Ibrahim Ali and his goons are guaranteed a jail term. And do the same for any racist, including those from the MCA - the likes of Wee Ka Siong and Chua Soi Lek.

Be brave to send them to jail irrespective of their political stature. Then I would say to you, Nazri, I am indeed to proud to be a Malaysian. Nazri, you cakap saja pandai, bikin tak tahu .

Disgusted: What are you talking about Perkasa surviving because of Umno? Don't you know what is going on in your own backyard or is it all a charade?

Most of the Perkasa members are Umno members. There are none from Pakatan Rakyat. Sack these Umno fellows who are members or supporters of Perkasa, then we will believe that Umno has nothing to do with Perkasa.

Start with Mukhriz Mahathir. Do you dare?

Ku Li refuses to be Galas candidate

Mohd Adha Thangarajah Abdullah : This will be the most interesting by-election since a long time. There must be something that had prevented Ku Li (Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah) from not wanting to be the candidate. Wonder what it was? Nevertheless, with Ku Li out of the way, PAS' chances herein look good.

Having said this, however, victory will not be put on a silver platter. PAS has a monumental task ahead to clinch victory. We will never know what Umno will be up to. PAS should put in all its might in ensuring a resounding victory in Galas and send shivers through Umno's spine. Which I'm sure they will, God willing.

David Yee: Ku Li should concentrate on the oil royalty issue involving Kelantan. He is not here to serve the lowlife of the Earth just to lead a by-election. BN will not be able to withstand the next two general elections unless they right what is wrong - which is too big a task for our PM as the country is being milked dry of its resources.

Anonymous: This is a very good move by Ku Li - he got a whiff of a booby trap laid for him. Ku Li is an orang lama and is not gullible.

Anonymous: Ku Li has made a very wise decision, there is no need for him to be a state assemblyperson. You nearly won to become prime minister if not for Najib Razak who at the last moment flip-flopped (at the 1987 Umno general assembly). You, Ku Li, however are a man of principle and really live by it.

Andrew Yap: Ku Li is not that stupid to accept the candidacy. But if he has integrity, he should absent himself from the election campaign to uphold his stand on the oil royalty issue.

Andek Peramu Sakti: It is an attempt to ‘outsource' the Galas by-election to Ku Li and see what happens to him. If he wins, it's good for him and good for Umno, but if he loses it's hard luck only for him.

Umno will then let him know where he really stands with the hope that he stops being a thorn in the flesh.

Former Immigration DG freed of graft charge

VK Lingam: It is common knowledge that without money, no permit will be issued whatever the BN government may say. The attorney-general is totally and absolutely incompetent in bringing cases to victory.

Some 99 percent of cases are lost deliberately or because of lack of intelligent and capable officers. Can prosecution be privatised? A well-trained lawyer who is capable and intelligent can do a better job than the AG.

Not Confused: Over a year and 40 witnesses later, the judge now rules that the prosecution had failed to to raise a prima facie case. Either this is another example of the tainted judiciary protecting the ‘big fish', or the AG, MACC and whoever else who was involved in the prosecution were totally incompetent!

Habib RAK: From the appalling professional capabilities in the Attorney-General's Chambers that we have seen including the AG himself, it is no surprise that they are unable to prove a prima facie for full trial.

The only way that the AG's Chambers knows how to prove a case is by collusion and doctored/planted evidence. There is no professional ability in them. Left at this, it is no wonder that all forms of crime have sky-rocketed in Malaysia and the situation continues to deteriorate.

Albert: Actually it is very easy to know whether any senior government servant or politician is corrupt or not. The authorities (ie, the MACC, income tax department) should just investigate the assets (ie, properties, shares, cash, cars, etc) of these senior government servants or politicians and that of their immediate family members.

Compare their assets with their incomes. For any huge discrepancy between income and assets, the authorities should request for explanations from these senior government servants and politicians. If the income does not justify the assets, then the case is very clear cut. (for example, as in a government officer with no other legal source of income driving a brand new Mercedes or BMW).

If there are other incomes to justify the expensive purchases of these assets, then did they report these alternative streams for income tax purposes? Actually, the idea is so simple but I am curious why the authorities are not using it to prove charges of corruption in the courts.

Anonymous: Did anybody have any doubt about what the decision would have been? Was it not during this man's time that the entry records of three Mongolian girls who came to Malaysia were deleted from the immigration computer system? Figure it out.
