PAS MP loses cool over pork jibe
Ferdtan: Thanks to the uproar, which was deliberately started by Zulkifli Noordin, over the issue of the boy who was caned for bringing food with pork to school. It is heartwarming to know that they are some good Muslims who can be counted on to defend the rights of the non-Muslims, especially in such sensitive issues concerning religion, and Islam in particular.
Thank you, YB Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad for being a true Muslim, who not only takes care of its kind but Malaysians of all races and religions. By Dzulkefly's fine example, we the non-Muslims are warming up to PAS - the party we feared in the past.
Rentap: 20/18-point Malaysia Agreement 1963:
Point 1: Religion
While there was no objection to Islam being the national religion of Malaysia, there should be no state religion in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah), and the provisions relating to Islam in the present Constitution of Malaya should not apply to Borneo.
Zulkifli Noordin (Ind-Kulim Bandar Baharu), are you trying to declare the agreement null and void? Are you encouraging East Malaysia to leave Malaysia by default?
Rolls-Royce: This debate between Dzulkefly Ahmad and Zulkifli Noordin reminded me of the Charles Dicken's novel, ‘A Tales of Two Cities'.
Dzulkefly, I respect and admire you. You represent courage, reason, wisdom and fair play. The country needs politicians like you and I wish you will someday lead this nation to greatness. To the other Zulkifli, you are a disgrace. You represent darkness, bigotry, third world tribalism and big bully, not unlike that Noh Omar from Tg Karang.
Anonymous: "Zulkifli then accused PAS of endorsing Muslims to eat pork, provoking Dzulkefly to lash out at the former."
The person making such blatant accusation is not reprimanded, but the person who's defending his party from the accusation is kicked out. I guess this is how democracy works in Malaysia.
Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia: With his uncompromisingly principled stand on the rights of all Malaysians irrespective of race or religion, YB Dr Dzulkelfy Ahmad has proven himself to be a far more enlightened and compassionate Muslim than the self-aggrandising bigot and so-called 'defender of the faith' Zulkifli Noordin.
I, as a non-Muslim, have great respect and affection for Dzulkefly and his equally progressive compatriot YB Khalid Samad. Their conduct does great credit to Islam. If only Malaysia had more leaders of such quality.
Rick Teo: This Zulklifli chap is really stupid. Even if his father was a Muslim and indeed he consumed pork, is it the teacher's duty to punish the boy? Is the teacher empowered to enforce punishment for a religious wrong? Is the school a religious school whereby teachers can discipline students for committing any breach of religious duties? What does a 10-year-old know anything about halal and non-halal food?
His mother prepared food for her son to eat and he ate as what any 10-year-old boy would do. Zulkifli only shows how stupid he is to even think that it is alright to punish a 10-year-old for consuming non-halal food. When the next general election comes, and if he is contesting, let us make sure he loses his deposit.
Kami nak dengar. Kami ingin dengar hujahmu.
Tahniah YB Dzul, tahniah kerana terus berdepan langsung dengan puak-puak sangat muflis begini.
Multi Racial: Dzulkefly Ahmad is the type of representative we want to have in the parliament - objective and focused on the issue.
He was right. The issue in question is not the boy's religion but the senior school administrator's punishment of the boy. Everyone knows that, but unfortunately we have our traitor MP who con us into voting him when he stood under Pakatan Rakyat and won, and now he speaks for his master in Umno.
This is the type of parliamentarian we want to remove in the next election. They are racist and cannot be trusted.
RR: Food is a personal preference. Some religions forbid certain food as pork is to Muslims, and beef is to Hindus and Buddhists. But it is not a state or school matter to punish. Even the religion should not punish the 'offender'. It is between his God and 'offender', period. The offender' s conscience will dictate the right and wrong in this matter.
Christopher: Maybe it's time parents start a movement to cane teachers who smoke? Can some school PTAs (Parents and Teachers Associations) bring this matter up? I will sponsor the canes, with Umno logo embossed on it.
Jakim to probe religious status of caned boy's father
Anonymous: So this is the strategy - turn the attention away from the child being abused by the senior assistant, who had no right whatsoever to beat a 10-year-old kid. Instead, let's now go after the parents of the boy, as if by proving that the father was a Muslim, there is justification to cane his son.
Shame on all those people who are doing everything they can to twist and turn the facts into something else. Well, they can try but the public focus is not going to deviate from the original issue - that a child was physically tormented by a highly irresponsible and sadistic adult for something that does not in any way come under disciplinary action.
And, there you have it, yet another case of abuse that they are trying to sweep under the carpet.
Not Confused: How much further can this pathetic excuse for a government sink? To try to cloud an issue of abuse of a 10-year-old by trying to throw accusations at the boy's father. If it wasn't so serious, I would be rolling around the floor laughing.
Aisyahaisyah: Excuse me for losing the plot. Are we talking about the torture by caning being meted out by a schoolteacher to a child here? Why is the father under investigation by Jakim?
Is Jakim sending a halal squad to private homes now? Is there no shame and sensibility on the part of Jakim in ‘jaga tepi kain orang'? Has Jakim the powers to act on its own whim/cognisance?
Can we restrain this office from causing ‘aib' to Muslims and the good name of the rulers/king (as heads of Islam)?
