Zaid, no need to give one-month notice
'There's no need for you to stay on until Dec 16. It is not like you have any loose end to tie up in PKR.'
Zaid sends quit letter, vows to contest in GE
Yobama: Why give one-month notice? There is no need for it as it is not in the party constitution, unless Zaid Ibrahim wants to destroy the party from within. If you want to see PKR members all over the country, you can do so as a non-member.
What is your motive for dragging your resignation for a month? There's nothing more you can do by being in PKR. I think PKR should sack him instead.
Anonymous: Zaid tendered his resignation but gave one month's notice. He thinks PKR is a company and that he is paid a salary? Just resign and go.
Tok Janggut: If you want to join a party, be it political, selling tupperware or whatever, you will never be 100 percent satisfied with all its policies. If you strongly believe in your policies, it is your duty to try and change it, but not to quit, unless your belief is 100 percent opposite to the party.
So make your stand, Zaid - BN or Pakatan. Independents are people with no stand. If I may suggest, there are few party hoppers that Zaid can work with and start a new party. He can call the party, Katak.
Alice: He should just quit right away. There's no need to wait for Dec 16. Just quit.
Omi: Enough. Let's move on and close this chapter. Discard all the resentment.
But Zaid, why leave on Dec 16? When someone tenders his resignation in a company and the HR (human resources) says can leave tomorrow, then we leave by all means. Don't tell me you can want to be a PKR member until Dec 16?
Focus: Zaid does not care about the over-arching aim of Pakatan, i.e. to form the federal government come the next election. His self-interest is more important than Pakatan's primary objective. He isn't a team player.
Those intending to join him, please take note of this, unless they too are there for positions since it is a new party and therefore there are many vacancies. Rest assured, it will not be a surprise if many are sidelined in his new party-to-be.
Ghkok: If I recall correctly, people started to call Zaid a "Trojan horse" and "sore loser" only after he made accusations about other contestants followed by threats to quit the contest and leave the party. So he was the one who started firing first, even before the nominations started. What kind of contestant is that?
As I also recall, the other contestants responded with dignity and professionalism, despite his attacks. His actions make people start thinking that perhaps it's all pre-planned.
Look, the party is undertaking one of the most challenging undertaking in the history of Malaysian party politics - a breathtaking attempt to implement an all-member voting system. His actions has undermined that project.
However, the party persevered. I'm sure the elections will culminate in a stunning success this weekend. Once it is over, Pakatan Rakyat will be more united and more consolidated than ever, offering us a solid option in a two-party system that will be cemented when they form the next federal government.
Anonymous2: Though politics is a dirty game, I really don't like a person who talks bad about his own party. Zaid cannot be trusted. He should leave the party quietly and be more professional.
Anonymous: A Trojan horse has been set free and it can trot any which way into the sunset. Tomorrow is another day, yesterday is dead and gone.
In politics, every step you take, every move you make, is being watched by the rakyat. Zaid, go to the Kingdom of the blind and your ‘one-eyed' will be the king. Good luck to you. You need it much more now.
Solaris: Kudos to Zaid for having the guts to tell it like it really is. Reformasi has been exposed as a national scam just like the NEP. All the best to you, Zaid.
BTN: We had lots of hope and respect for Zaid when he came into PKR. The hope has suddenly turned into a nighmare. It was not only a bad judgement on DSAI's (Anwar Ibrahim's) part but also us as well.
How many more of Zaid must we contend with in PKR? It has become so common and normal for people to betray the people's trust without even sparing a single thought on what the people think of them.
Black Mamba: Just as we were getting a two-party system, there comes a spoiler who wants to be a third party. I wonder what his eventual game plan is? Help BN win the next election?
Changeagent: Zaid, as your supporter, it has been very disappointing to see you carrying on with your hissy-fit antics like a sore loser. You are greatly admired for your principles but your recent erratic behaviour has left much to be desired.
Just leave if you have to leave. Stop playing unnecessary games that you don't need to play. There's no need for you to stay on until Dec 16 because it is not like you have any loose end to tie up in PKR.
Sunnyd: Right or wrong, at least you have the guts to stand up for what you believe in. Politics need more group consensus rather than a maverick. I don't know how you going to lead but hats off to you. You give Malaysians an interesting third choice.
Ksn: Good start, Zaid. Everyone should remember that Anwar is ex-Umno member and DPM and finance minister to boot. Did he then behave any different from the other Umno ministers, who included TDM (Dr Mahathir Mohamad)? He did not.
On the other hand, he supported all Umno policies including the marginalisation of the poor Malays and the poor from other communities. Corruption and cronyism existed then too. When thrown out of Umno, he formed Parti Keadilan. What ‘keadilan' (justice)? Was there keadilan for Zaid in PKR?
By the same token, Zaid was an Umno minister but he quit because he did not and could not agree with the government. Did Anwar quit Umno and resign as DPM and finance minister when he disagreed with the policies of the then government?
Now you see the difference between Anwar and Zaid. Let us be fair to Zaid.
Wira: Is Zaid aware of what was going on in PKR in the run-up to the Batu Sapi by-election? PKR had offered the SAPP candidate to contest under its banner for the sake of opposition unity. It was Yong Teck Lee's party which rejected it.
If PKR had withdrawn unilaterally in every contest just because someone else is contesting, then PKR might as well cease to have a vision for this country.
Ruben: Good riddance to you, Zaid, You asked what Anwar stood for. He stood up for all the injustice that BN inflicted not only on himself and his family but on the rakyat too. He spent six years in jail fighting against that injustice.
Of course, like any human being, he has his weaknesses but the big difference between him and you is that he has learnt well from it and is on the right road to build a better and more equal Malaysia.
As for you, please let us know what have you actually achieved? Nothing. You are just a rolling stone and will continue to be one. Worse still, you have lost all respect and is a has-been. Don't waste the rakyat's time and money to stand for elections.
