Welcome back, Ibrahim Ali

your say 'There is a saying that if you don't speak, nobody will know you are stupid but when you open your mouth, it only confirms that you're indeed stupid.'

Ketuanan Melayu, in the words of Ibrahim Ali

Paul Warren: Ibrahim Ali starts with his statement with "Man has history and without history man is nothing." No wonder fellows like Dr Mohd Khir Toyo and half the Umno leadership hate him.

When Khir Toyo thinks of his history, it begins with somewhere in Indonesia not even 60 years ago. And before Independence, his father might have been doing what half the illegal Indonesians are doing right now - dodging the cops.

And Ibrahim talks about the Malay sultanates. Unless of course I was taught otherwise, I figured the first among the sultanates was Malacca, which was started by one Parameswara who had to dodge someone in Sumatra?

But as Parameswara, he surely could not have fallen within our constitutional definition of a ‘Malay'. So, this means the very first sultanate was not necessarily a Malay one. Anthropologists, please help... I am going over my head here.

Rick Teo: The Chinese in Kelantan and Terengganu were not brought in by the British colonialists. They were already in the two states long before even the ‘katak' was in Kelantan. History from documents have shown that the Chinese were already here before the time of Parameswara in the Malacca sultanate.

Ibrahim Ali should go and study history before lecturing on the subject. There is a saying that if you don't speak, nobody will know you are stupid but when you open your mouth, it only confirms that you're indeed stupid.

Mohd Noor Ahmad: When you were suffering from heart ailment and lying in your death bed, one Dr Selvam helped you recover. So who now is the ‘tuan', my friend. In Islam, there is no segregation among human beings.

Multi Racial: The truth is Malaysia was not much different from United States. The true ‘bumiputera' in US were the Red Indians. In Malaysia, we have - depending on which state - Negrito, Iban, Kadazan and some others. They are the true ‘bumiputera' in Malaysia.

Again, studies have proven that all mankind migrate out of Africa to the rest of the world. As you can see, depending on the period, we are all migrants and there is no dispute some of us got here before others.

As facts show Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Ibrahim Ali ancestors got here much later than Tian Chua's ancestors. Similarly, I am sure many Malay families got here from Sumatra much earlier than Tian Chua's ancestors. We can go on and argue on thing none of us have controlled over.

But there is one thing we all have in common - we are all born in this country and therefore we are Malaysians. Why can't we focus on this and move on?

Geronimo: Ibrahim Ali, don't hide behind your writing. Have the guts to face Nurul Izzah Anwar to debate on the issue. No emotions, just squarely on facts. I am aghast when you said the non-Malay migrants were not welcomed and yet you have the audacity to sit on the board of companies owned by such migrants and earning their ‘haram' money. Tak malu, ke?

It is sad that my great grandparents are not alive to defend for themselves but as for me, you can say what you want till the cows come home, we are here to stay and there is nothing you can do about it.

Nah! Since Umno subscribe to your type of mentality, the votes are going to swing even greater to the other side come GE13. See you in the ‘battlefield'.

Swipenter: Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa, why not propose to change the name of our country back to ‘Tanah Melayu'? Then you don't have to write a nine-paragraph statement in English to explain your position regarding ‘ketuanan Melayu' because the name itself is self-explanatory and you can revert back to the system of Malay sultanates just like before the white-invading ‘tuans'.

There is no need to talk of 'founding fathers of our nation' as there won't be a nation called ‘Malaysia' and contend with the messy piece of document called the ‘Federal Constitution'.

As for the unwelcomed immigrants and their offsprings brought in by the white ‘tuans', they can leave or subject themselves to "tolerance and acceptance" of the Malay ‘tuans', whatever that means.

M Suresh Kumar: Hello, Ibrahim, this Tanah Melayu has also evolved. You were not there then and now that you are here, so are all other citizens of this country, Malaysia. Please be positive and move this great country forward in the right direction. Otherwise vacate your seat for someone who can better serve Malaysians, not Tanah Melayuans.

Enough of ‘special rights' talk. 'Special rights' should be given to the poor, handicapped and marginalised lot, not loud-mouthed racists like you out to create trouble among us.

Lim Cheng Inn: Without Ibrahim Ali shooting his mouth like stray bullets on Malay supremacy and his racist sentiments, all other news are just news. His is high-octane.

I kind of having the "missing him" feeling and wanting to get intoxicated by the filth he could spew, making my blood pressure rise. If this could happen to me, the same could be felt by other peace-loving Malaysians. Welcome back, Ibrahim Ali.

Proarte: Sawasdee , Ibrahim Ali. Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan and Terengganu were part of Siam and ruled by a Buddhist king before the British came on the scene. The Anglo-Siamese Treaty signed in Bangkok ceded these four states to the British in 1909. So only about 100 years ago, the 'Malays' were Thais in these four states. Bapa Malaysia's mother was Siamese, thus Tunku Abdul Rahman could equally be called Thai.

The term Malay is a British political construct. At independence, they drew up a constitution which installed a 'friendly' government which would protect their interests in the region. The constitution was 'spiked' with 'divide and rule' clauses which we are paying the price for today.

The Hindu Malacca sultanate was founded by Parameswara. When he converted to Islam for political reasons, Malacca remained a client state of the mighty Chinese emperors. The sultans were obliged to pay 'tributes' to their masters the Chinese. In addition, the British hired and fired 'Malay' sultans to serve their interests.

Klangboy: Ibrahim is trying to sound intelligent. He comes across as belligerent. There is only a thin line between an idiot and a genius, and only a few letters between ‘ketuanan' and ‘kemaluan'.
