The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) denied today former Sime Darby Engineering Sdn Bhd Mazhazmi Jamaludin's allegations that its officers had assaulted him during his interrogations.

NONE MACC director in charge of special operations Mohd Jamidan Abdullah  said the accused had made no complaints of abuse or injuries to the Kajang magistrate during the application on Jun 20 to extend the his remand.

In a statement, Jamidan said Mazhazmi ( right ) was brought for a check-up at the Mediviron Clinic in Putrajaya on June 22 soon after being released from detention under remand.

This is routinely done to ensure that those under remand by the MACC are in good health and have not been injured during the entire period of their detention, he said further.

According to Jamidun, the doctor who examined Mazhazmi on June 22 had verified that the accused was healthy and had not shown any signs of injury or wounds on his body.

Mazhazmi was today charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with receiving a RM200,000 inducement to propose a company for a multi-million ringgit contract.

Mazhazmi’s counsel Shamsul Sulaiman told judge Rozilah Salleh that his client had been stripped naked, blindfolded and made to stand on one foot by MACC officers during interrogation.

Speaking to reporters later, the lawyer also claimed Mazhazmi was also "kicked and pushed" by MACC officers, though not to the extent that he sustained bruises.

Mazhazmi had been told that he was called in as a witness to assist in investigations, but "MACC officers also threatened to arrest him and his family", said Shamsul.
