Kampung Tunku assemblyperson Lau Weng San has today accused chief secretary to the government Mohd Sidek Hassan of sabotage in announcing Mohd Khusrin Munawi's appointment as the incoming Selangor state secretary.

NONE Lau ( left ), who is the Selangor DAP secretary, said the appointment has not received the go-ahead from the Selangor government but yet Sidek announced it.

“The actions by the chief secretary to make the announcement without approval from the Selangor government is seen as a move to sabotage the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat government,” he said.

“It is unfortunate that it would be seen as a tit-for-tat action following the Selangor government's ban on the use of the 1Malaysia logo in outdoor advertising boards.”

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim also commented on a Twitter posting that the appointment of the state secretary in any state must be referred to the rightful menteri besar or chief minister.

“The chief secretary should maintain a high degree of professionalism,” the Permatang Pauh MP said.

Both Lau and Anwar were commenting on the announcement of Mohd Khusrin’s appointment as the Selangor state secretary effective Jan 1, made by Mohd Sidek in a statement today.

The Selangor menteri besar’s office has also responded, saying Mohd Khusrin’s appointment was not finalised as his office had three candidates in mind. Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim will seek an audience with Sultan Sharafudin Idris Shah on Wednesday to discuss the appointment.

'Respect Selangor government’s purview'

In a related development, Selangor PKR Youth chief Khairul Anuar Ahmad Zainuddin said the movement also outrightly rejects Mohd Khursin’s appointment.

NONE “The federal government should respect the Selangor government’s purview in appointing a senior person to the post, and it should understand the spirit of federalism as stipulated under the federal constitution,” Khairul Anuar ( right ) said.

“Selangor PKR also questions Mohd Khusrin’s credibility as while leading the Selangor Islamic Department, he had at times created controversy as if he had succumbed to pressure from Umno-Barisan Nasional.”

Khairul Anuar also wants the Selangor Sultan to reject Mohd Khusrin’s appointment, and said they hope the person holding the post is a professional and has the proper calibre in continuing with the state's development agenda.

“The Selangor Pakatan Rakyat government should also be firm on this issue as the rightful person to be appointed must be seen to be committed to the Selangor Pakatan’s agenda of change,” said Khairul Anuar, who is also the national PKR Youth deputy chief.
