'The selection process hasn't been completed yet, and the federal government has hijacked the process by ‘appointing' its own. This is piracy.'
'Federal gov't hiding behind palace'
Ghkok: The Public Services Commission (PSC) under the federal government ‘appoints' the state secretary. But surely the state government gets to ‘select' the candidate. Surely the selection must be a decision of the state for the state government is legitimately elected by the people of Selangor.
Once the selection is done, then only the PSC completes the paperwork to ‘appoint' the person - surely, the intention of ‘appointment' is purely procedural so as not to rob the legitimate rights of the people of Selangor through their state government to pick the state secretary of their choice.
The menteri besar has done the right thing to select three potential candidates with the intention to zoom in on one. The selection process hasn't been completed yet, and the federal government/PSC has hijacked the process by ‘appointing' their own. This is piracy.
Rolls-Royce: Rukunegara states: Kepercayaan kepada Tuhan; Kesetiaan kepada Raja dan Negara; Keluhuran Perlembagaan; Kedaulatan Undang2; Kosopanan dan Kesusilaan. Do we say all these for fun just like 1Malaysia?
KSN: Umno-BN knows very well that they cannot win back Selangor and all the other states under Pakatan. Hence they will use anything - and underhand, below-the-belt tactics including the use and abuse of institutions they can influence - to bring Pakatan down. And they say we are a democracy. What hypocrisy.
BTN: This act can be termed in Malay as ‘dengki' and ‘biadap'. How can the state government function with all the obstacles put in their way? Sabotage is the right word as what Seri Setia state rep Nik Nazmi Nik Mat says.
As I've said before, we cannot hope for any human being - whatever position or title they hold - to look after our interest. The real power is people power and it boils down to our votes.
Rick Teo: Civil servants are not masters of the rakyat. They are, as their name suggest, mere servants of the people. As such, they should not play politics by dancing to the tune of any politicians, whether from BN or Pakatan. However, they should perform their duties by obeying the orders of the state government of the day, which is Pakatan.
To do otherwise is morally and legally wrong and any act of sabotage can be construed as going against the General Orders of a civil servant. This provides a legal basis for him to be dismissed from the civil service.
R Venugopal: Pakatan, face it and accept the appointment of the new state secretary. The challenge is to face the BN's wicked ways and overcome the situation as the people are with you. Strengthen unity within Pakatan to bring changes which bring benefits to the Selangor people and some day the ruler will realise the mistake of listening to one side of the story.
Wira: All of us know Mohamed Khusrin Munawi will be ranked in Jusa A pay-scale soon for his exemplary role in causing embarrassment and harassment to the Pakatan government in Selangor. If through his effort the Selangor government falls before the next election, he could be rewarded with the post of chief secretary to the cabinet.
James Daniel : Malaysian beat Indonesia 3-0 with the alleged laser-gun incident. So what is wrong with this? Right and wrong is a blurred concept courtesy of BN way of achieving what they want.
MySecret: It's obvious where the Selangor throne sits and it sure ain't in Selangor.
Lawyer: Convention dictates MB should be consulted first
Marge: In the past when Selangor was under BN rule, how were the state secretary appointed? Was the MB consulted? Did the MB agree to the selected candidate before going to the sultan?
Selangor has never been ruled by any other party until 2008, hence the ruling government ontinues to do things their high-handed way. Perhaps now Selangor has to make it lawful that the state secretary be nominated by the MB, approved by the sultan and appointed by the PSD. Other states should follow suit as BN can never rule forever. Neither can Pakatan.
Ferdtan: The state secretary who is not elected is working for the Selangor government. The head of the Selangor government is the menteri besar who governs the state together with his excos. So indirectly, the state secretary's duty is to report to his 'boss', the mentri besar and to the larger extent the whole team of excos.
Now since the the mentri besar and all the excos do not want this new secretary, the chief secretary should resubmit new names, with the agreement of the menteri besar to the sultan for approval.
If the federal government is adamant in keeping Mohd Khusrin Munawi as the new secretary, then the Selangor government should play the same game - be tough. Boycott the new secretary and keep him involved with the administration to the minimum - only for official duties.
Transfer his office to the back room and show that the menteri besar, Khalid Ibrahim - the people's choice - cannot be pushed around.
Anonymous: I thought lawyers always say the law is the law. Now we say it's convention? So it's follow the rule of law when it suits you and follow convention if it doesn't?
Moontime: We are witnessing a start of the takeover plan for Selangor ala Perak.
Step 1: Get a 'Trojan Horse' inside the state government.
Step 2: Sabotage/undermine/disregard all Pakatan policies and implement BN's so that people in Selangor will feel disillusioned and fed up with Pakatan.
Step 3: Overthrow the state government like in Perak by bribing/coercing/intimidating Pakatan state assemblymen into crossing over to BN, with the agreement of the sultan.
Step 4: Gloat to everyone that it's Pakatan's fault for not being able to govern Selangor properly.
It's so easy to read the script.
Multi Racial: "Today, it was reported in several media quoting the private secretary to the Sultan, Mohamad Munir Bani, that the names submitted by the Selangor government arrived late, resulting in Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah assenting to Mohd Khusrin's appointment."
Since this is an important appointment and whoever appointed must be able to work closely with the Selangor government, especially the MB, why can't the palace wait?
Anonymous2: The sultan is the protector of the rakyat of Selangor, so why is the rakyat's elected voice not heard? If the elected government of the state cannot decide their own fate, then where is democracy?
