More than 100 people gathered outside the Royal Sultan Suleiman Mosque, Kampung Raja, Klang after Friday prayers to express their support and loyalty to the sultan of Selangor, the menteri besar and Pakatan Rakyat’s administration, today.

NONE They also shouted “Daulat Tuanku”, “Hidup Rakyat (Long live the people)” and “Hidup Pakatan (Long live Pakatan)” to show their support towards the Sultan and the Menteri Besar, Khalid Ibrahim.

The group planned to submit their pledge of allegiance to the sultan of Selangor and a memorandum stating their support and rejecting the intervention of outside parties in the administration of Selangor to the sultan at the Istana Selangor Alam Shah, Klang, located about 4km from the mosque.

However, when they tried to march, they were blocked by 50 police officers who had set up barricades earlier. This resulted in some pushing and shoving.

NONE The two parties then negotiated and the police agreed to allow 10 representatives of the group to enter the palace.

The memorandum to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was to show that the people of Selangor pledge loyalty and affection towards him.

It is also to say that the people of Selangor will do their best to protect the institution in accordance with the principle of a constitutional monarchy.

NONE Among those who were allowed to proceed to the palace were Meru assemblyperson Dr Abd Rani Osman and PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin.

They were accompanied by Shah Alam member of parliament Khalid Samad ( right ), who was waiting at the palace gates.

There were no reports of any arrest and the group dispersed an hour later.
