Kedah Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang ( below ) blasted opposition political parties PAS and PKR today for demonstrating on the second day of Chinese New Year.

NONE Chinese New Year, Tan said, is the main Chinese celebration in the country celebrated by all Malaysians.

For this reason, Kedah Gerakan Youth regrets that PAS and PKR leaders and members demonstrated in solidarity with the pro-democracy movement in Egypt today, said Tan.

“This is an act of uncouthness and disrespect for the Chinese New Year celebration in Malaysia.

“The second day of the Chinese New Year is a public holiday for all Malaysians.

He called on all Pakatan Rakyat leaders, including Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, to explain why PAS and PKR chose the second day of the Chinese New Year to demonstrate.
