'So now the MACC officer knows how it feels to be interrogated and treated like a criminal. How come he didn't snap and jump from the building...?'
Cops tried to link me to Teoh's death: MACC officer
Cala: Teoh Beng Hock (TBH) was a Sin Chew reporter based in Kajang before he accepted an offer to work for DAP exco member Ean Yong Hian Wah.
He was found dead when he was under interrogation by Selangor MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission). Someone must have done something harsh to him resulting in his death.
If MACC investigating officer Mohd Ashraf Mohd Yunus is disputing any involvement in TBH's death, let him provide in chronological order, the entire process of the purported interrogation.
HYL: Mohd Ashraf felt like he was interrogated as if he were guilty of causing THB's death. What about Ashraf interrogating TBH as if he was guilty of corruption?
This is your balasan (reward). So now you know how it feels to be interrogated and treated like a criminal. How come you don't snap and jump from the building to get away from all the mental torture?
Longjaafar: He had nine police reports lodged against him and yet the MACC did not consider it necessary to have an enquiry or call him up to explain. This gives rise to all kinds of speculations that he may even have the silent consent of his superiors for his interrogation techniques.
Keanjin: Yes, (RCI chairperson) justice James Foong should call all nine complainants to testify. More things will come out - dead man tell no tales but not the nine complainants who are lucky to be alive.
MACC officers had 'no authority' to question Teoh
Kgen: MACC was just fishing for something against Teoh's boss. Are they allowed to go on such fishing expeditions under the law? Investigations should be based on complaints or concrete suspicion, not through fishing for something to use against somebody.
Doesn't the MACC have enough cases reported by the opposition to investigate rather than to go fishing for wrongdoing against people whom no complaints have been made and are least likely to be corrupt?
Keturunan Malaysia: It is simple and plain justice that the family of TBH seeks, and is rightfully and deservedly entitled to. A life is lost, and we must know why and/or who caused it, no more and no less.
'Terrorist links': Uthaya's defamation suit dismissed
Disgusted: "Hindraf is an illegal organisation and therefore it has no locus standi to pursue legal action," said the court. Wasn't P Uthayakumar one of the leaders of Hindraf and therefore affected by the accusation?
Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and former IGP Musa Hussein made wild accusations without any proof that Hindraf and anyone associated with them are terrorists and that Hindraf is affliated with the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam).
These were wild accusations to vilify Hindraf with the purpose to bring contempt and hatred towards the group by Malaysian public and to justify the arrest and ill-treatment of Indians associated with Hindraf and its allies, which happened to be Pakatan Rakyat at that time.
In fact, BN is hypocritical to accept former Hindraf members who have now created Malaysian Makkal Sakthi Party. Were they not terrorists as claimed by the police and home minister earlier?
Ranjit Singh: The judges should go and read their notes. Hindraf was proclaimed as illegal way after the ‘terrorist' accusation. Where did these judges go to school? Is this in the interest of public or interest of Umno? So why was Uthayakumar detained under ISA in December 2007? To taste his mother-in-law's food in prison?
These judges must be thinking that we Malaysians are such fools. Common sense does not prevail with these judges when defending Umno.
Devan_12e1: Since Uthayakumar and P Waythamoorty were the founders and current leaders of Hindraf, doesn't that mean they were accused to be leaders of a terrorist organisation? So how do you lead a terrorist outfit and not be classified as a terrorist?
KSN: Justice Hishamuddin Yunus should be our chief justice for his sense of fairness, jurisprudence, his knowledge of the law, fearlessness and sense of justice, everything an impartial judge needs to be effective. He was kept in cold storage in High Court for a very long time before moving up to the Court of Appeals.
He is the type of judge the country needs. His judgments while in the High Court and his dissenting views on so many cases in the Court of Appeals is testimony to that.
Nicole: What about those supporting the Muslim terrorists in Southern Thailand and also those who support the Moro liberation fronts in Southern Philippines?
Anonymous_4076: We are told, as subjects of Malaysia, not to create racial tensions.
However, when two high-profile officers allegedly serving all subjects of Malaysia make defamatory statements against an innocent subject who then finds himself confined to imprisonment for over two years on alleged defamatory claims, and later tries to seek justice to clear his good name is dealt with a decision by two Court of Appeals judges who have only managed to demonstrate their inability to make a decision without fear or favour of others and their ability to ignore obvious evidence before them, what advice does the king have for Uthayakumar and those who have suffered a similar travesty of justice at the hands of the police and the courts?
Perhaps to smile and bear the injustice? For if you are not a Malay, you are not human and therefore not expected to have any feelings or the right to complain?
Gandhi: M Manoharan, you asked for Indian judges, and you got your just deserts. The ex-IGP and AG have acted according to their whims and fancy and they go scot free for their misdeeds.
The AG and ex-IGP knew no one can do anything to them and they can at their whims and fancy mistreat the public. When Anwar Ibrahim can get humiliated by balaclava-clad police, it's little wonder Uthaya can't get his justice.
Lingam: Shame on the two judges. I have appeared before justice Hishamuddin. Even though I lost some cases, he justified very well in his judgments, which were accepted by my clients. He is intelligent, capable and perceptive to the law and facts before him, unlike many of his colleagues.
There are many judges who can learn from him, if only they care to do so, and I am sure the ever humble Hishamuddin will be only too happy to teach and guide them.
Not Convinced: Going by the same logic, Al-Qaeda is a terrorist organisation, but Osama bin Laden is not a terrorist.
