Police have inspected a hotel room in the federal capital said to be where a video recording of a sex act allegedly involving an opposition leader had taken place.

soon joon wai Federal police secretary Ghazali Md Amin said the investigation at the scene was carried out together with a police forensic team after receiving information.

"Two individuals were arrested yesterday but were then released on police bail... we also obtained some items as evidence from them.

"One of the two involved had also disclosed where the sex video recording took place," he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, former Malacca chief minister and Risda chairperson Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah were interrogated for five hours at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman and they also surrended a video recording of a sex act between a man and a woman, and an Omega watch.

azlan Meanwhile, inspector-general of police Ismail Omar said police were trying to identify the individuals in the sex video.

He said a special team was investigating the case from various angles, including how the sex video could come about and the individuals seen in the video.

"The investigation has entered the third day now. We want to know what actually happened and about other related matters.

"So, the public should stop speculating and allow the police to carry out the investigation until it's completed," he said after attending the 204th police day celebration at the Police Training Centre in Kuala Lumpur today.

What offence?

Asked why the trio who exposed the sex video were not arrested, Ismail said: "Based on what offence? If there is enough evidence to show that they have committed an offence, then we will take action in accordance with the law.

"Yesterday, we called two of them for their statements to be recorded.... if we had arrested them without enough evidence, people will be laughing at the police."

Meanwhile, Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) today denied that it was involved in any way in the disclosure of a sex video.

The Risda management in a statement today also refuted claims by certain quarters that Risda was involved in booking and sponsoring a meeting room at Carcosa Seri Negara and another at Flamingo Hotel for the screening of the video recording for several journalists and other individuals recently.

"We wish to stress that Risda is not involved at all in this issue," said the statement which was signed by its corporate communications unit head, Halimah Abd Kadir.

Risda chairman had on Wednesday admitted that he and two others were collectively the mysterious 'Datuk T' behind Monday's screening of the sex video.
