Anwar's ceramah disrupted again, this time in Kuching

Pure Malaysian: It's actually a good sign that BN and the police force are so afraid of Anwar Ibrahim. This goes to show that Anwar's influence is getting stronger each day. And BN is living in fear and worried that their days in power are numbered.

S Nadarajah: The police are only good at carrying out orders from their political masters but not carrying out their rightful roles and duties in maintaining law and order. You should look at the crime rates and the number of unsolved cases in the country.

The professional roles of the police in the society is very politically-driven. The Umno-led government wants it this way so that they could continue in power with the support of ill-informed, illiterate rural population from Sarawak.

Adha: Hang on, the fact that Anwar even managed to get entry into Sarawak is a big plus, let alone getting to speak in a rally, especially in Sarawak. Wow. I'm amazed. It's a good omen.

Myop101: Sarawakians should not forget that Pakatan Rakyat-led Selangor government respected the rights of the minorities, i.e. Orang Asli and their claims to their lands.

Remember the case involving the forcible acquisition of Temuan land in Dengkil (15.57 hectares), Selangor, for the construction of the Banting-Nilai highway in 1995?

It was in April 2009 that the now Pakatan-led Selangor government pulled out of the Federal Court appeal, in keeping with its promise to recognise the land rights of the Orang Asli. With that the Orang Asli won RM6.5 million in compensation .

Where was and is BN with regards to Orang Asli rights? I urge Sarawakians to realise this. Orang Asli may be a minority, but the Pakatan-led government did what they promised.

ROY67: Sarawakians, listen carefully. This is your right. For one term, give Pakatan a try. See the difference. Anwar is correct, Penang and Selangor have made some changes. Things are improving and transparency is more apparent.

BN has been corrupted for many years. Our tax money is spent for nothing. Najib alone cannot the change, his cronies and all the old timers are still there. These people cannot change, we have to change them.

Malaysians Are Not Stupid: If the BN government is doing such a good job and the rakyat love them so much as the BN leaders always wants the people to believe, then why resort to using the police to intimidate and stop the opposition from telling their side of the story to the rakyat?

The police is clearly a tool of the BN and part of the effort to stop the message of the opposition from reaching the rakyat. The rakyat are intelligent enough to weight the points raised by both parties and make a wise decision.

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: The police are a disgrace. If they continue like this, the people will soon take the law into their own hands. There is no impartiality, integrity or professionalism left in the police. They have become the tool of the BN regime to control, oppress and subjugate the people.

The people have a right to attend and hear political ceramahs. What is the problem with that? Is it not part and parcel of democracy to be allowed to make an informed choice?

If the police are not happy with the location, tell the organisers to move to a better location where crowd and traffic control is better. Don't simply refuse permits and then barge into the venue to threaten and intimidate the opposition leaders and the people present.

When Najib and Muhyiddin are in town, they can have ceramah, gatherings and processions any where without restrictions. For BN, democracy means ensuring that only the BN stays in power. It is time that the people tell them to get lost.

Pakatan trio probed for sedition, illegal assembly

Not Confused: So campaigning against the government is sedition now, is it? The police state is here for all to see. No wonder FDI (foreign direct investment) is sliding. Who in their right mind would want to invest in a country where following democratic principles are treated as sedition?

If this is the case, then no criticism of the government will be allowed as it will be deemed to be inciting people to go against the government, which is what political campaigning is all about - pointing out the failings of the ruling government.

This whole charade is just too ridiculous for words. If the trend continues, then I, like many other foreigners, will leave this country for good and take my foreign income with me.

AkuMelayu Islam: Semasa saya kecil dulu, saya ingat kerja polis tangkap orang jahat dan jaga keselamatan orang ramai. Tapi bila dah besar, rupa-rupanya kerja polis menganggu rakyat nak pergi dengar ceramah, menyusahkan pihak yang tidak setuju dengan BN bin Umno.

Keselamatan? Kebanyakan rakyat/komuniti kawasan terpaksa kutip duit untuk upah syarikat persendirian untuk jaga keselamatan kawasan sebab polis tak cukup pegawai. Bila kadar jenayah berkurangan di kawasan perumahan kami, menteri dan polis dengan bangga umum penurunan kadar jenayah dan mereka telah mencapai KPI yang ditetapkan.

Bluemountains: Umno is employing the wrong strategy by using the police to harass the opposition. Fair minded citizens will have more sympathy for the opposition and that will certainly cause Umno to lose a lot of votes and most probably Putrajaya as well.

To win the people's votes, Umno must be seen to be fair in their handling of all matters concerning the opposition.

Quigonbond: I find it mind boggling that bringing up the three questions could in any way constitute sedition. If an opposition politician cannot bring up those questions, how do they show that they are a different creature from BN? Might as well abolish all opposition parties and become a communist state.
