A group of Burmese Rohingya refugees who invaded the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) compound in Kuala Lumpur last January in a bid for asylum have finally been promised resettlement in various third countries.
The 28, including women and children, first highlighted their plight as undocumented asylum seekers when they refused to leave the UNHCR compound until they were given protection by the refugee agency.
They were later handed over to the authorities and deported to Thailand.
