Incumbent Padungan state assemblyperson Dominique Ng has urged his DAP opponent Wong Keng Wei to pull out from the race.

NONE Ng ( left ) said he is in a better position to win the seat as compared to Wong, who he said had no track record in the area.

"Wong, being of young age should first serve the electorate before trying to seek mandate from the Padungan people," he said during a press conference in Kuching today.

As a quid pro quo , Ng said he was willing to give way to DAP in the next general election in the future.

“Maybe if they will take up this offer, I can consider giving the seat back to them the next round with my full support (for their candidate).

“Isn’t that a win-win situation?” said Ng.

Ng had quit PKR after the party dropped its intention to contest Padungan, leaving him without a seat.

He is now running as an Independent against Wong and BN’s Sim Kiang Chiok. Many speculate that this scenerio would benefit BN as the opposition vote would be split.

Ng stressed that of the three, he is in a position to win based on his incumbency and his track record in the constituency over the past 20 years.

“You must understand that I am the incumbent. Wong is still very young, plenty of opportunity to field him as a candidate in the future,” he said.

Regardless of the contest against DAP, Ng stressed that he is still vehemently against BN and wholeheartedly supports Pakatan Rakyat.

NONE “If I win and Pakatan needs just Padungan to form the goovernment, I will surely join them,” said Ng.

Ng will be using the hibiscus flower as a logo and he is being backed by a team of comrades who, among others, comprise of PKR and DAP members.

He has managed to ‘recycle’ his posters which he has prepared before nominations by sticking a hibiscus picture in place of the PKR logo.

He said that his campaign strategy would be centred around informing voters that his logo had changed but his convictions and dedication to the people of Padungan had not.
