Chinese voters face tough choice in S'wak polls

People such as you always bring up race issues in trying to champion your own cause. We know people like you are more concerned about your own interest and that of your cronies. We, the true Malaysians, are concerned about the present and future of all Malaysians.

Quigonbond: I don't think the Chinese have a choice, period. Voting for BN in Sarawak not only causes irreparable damage to Sarawak's economy, but will have serious rippling repercussions for the general elections. There won't be another chance for Pakatan Rakyat to form the federal government if we miss out on this one.

Nik Aziz Nik Mat, Lim Kit Siang and Anwar Ibrahim are getting into their retirement age soon, yet they are the most highly respectable politicians and statesmen in Malaysia. It bears special meaning to them and the cause they have dedicated their lives to over the past three to four decades if Pakatan wins in the coming general elections.

The people (including Chinese) only need to see the positive changes to Penang, Perak and Selangor in the last three and a half years of Pakatan rule. Clean government does save a lot of money. And fair governance remove a lot of racial/religious tensions. The choice has never been clearer for Malaysians.

Mikey: Mr Ko, do you really believe what you are saying or are you just afraid of losing your ‘pemanca' title? The people have suffered enough from leaders and politicians who parrot their masters and party.

Alan Goh: Ko Wei Neng, the choice facing the Chinese, and Malaysians in general, are very simple - either you turn a blind eye to the massive corruption carried out in Sarawak by the chief minister of your state and continue to support him, or send a message that enough is enough.

How worse can Sarawak become with the daily massive corruption and pillaging of the native customary lands? Vote out PBB/SUPP and give Pakatan a chance to run it for a term. If Pakatan cannot perform, you can change them.

Taib has been chief minister for over 30 years and has been amassing overseas assets worth billions, yet Ko says the Chinese face a tough choice.

Anonymous_05: The Chinese have been represented in the government for decades but what has been done for them? Please Ko, please open your eyes wide and see what is happening in Peninsular Malaysia where people are clamouring for change.

Jiminy Qrikert: BN stooges like Ko are totally out of sync with what the rakyat really want. Ko still thinks he can use the 'race to help race' appeal when the entire rakyat has moved on to a new level of understanding of what representation is and what we as constituents expect of them regardless of race or religion.

In fact, I expect my Malay state and parliamentary representatives to represent all races and not just members of his own race. By extension, because there will be a significant number of constituents professing a faith different from Islam, I expect the state representative or MP to be willing to represent the cause of that community within reason.

Therefore, I expect my Muslim rep to speak out against the desecration of the Al Kitab. And I expect my Muslim representative to challenge the idiocy of the ‘Allah' ban based purely on teachings of the faiths and on human logic, not Umno-BN's manipulation.

Rick Teo: Ko, you have not learned anything from your experience with BN. For 53 years under BN rule, what have they done to our country and to Sarawak? They have raped and pillaged Sarawak and used religion to divide and rule, and yet you still have faith in this government?

It is not a tough choice. In fact, it is an easy choice. What do we want for the future? A government that continues to corrupt all our institutions and rape our country's resources? Or a new government that can reform these institutions? Vote for change and secure our children's future.

Sarawakian_3ff9: The Chinese don't give a damn if it's BN or Pakatan. What they want is to be left alone and given equal opportunities to do business and education for their children. Now that the BN is not giving them these, they will give their support to Pakatan. To hell with SUPP and Taib.

Dry taps in the shadow of a dam

Atan-Toyol: Twenty years ago, I did some research in this area, and we came across 'gravity-pipes' supplying water to the folks there. After 20 years, things haven't changed? What has Taib Mahmud been doing all these years? And what has the wakil rakyat there been doing?

I think I know the answer. They are busy enriching themselves and bleeding Sarawak dry, literally. Come on Bidayuh folks, tell the Taib regime who's boss in this election. If you miss this opportunity, you may not get another chance.

Ghkok: Vote for the real opposition - DAP, PKR, PAS. Like the people of Penang, Selangor, Perak, Kedah and Kelantan voted for the real opposition and the three-year track record of Pakatan has been excellent.

There are no ‘gravity pipes' in the Pakatan states. In fact, the Pakatan government in Selangor is giving free water and preventing the water supplier from raising tariffs.
