'Shouldn't this have been done long before it came to this point? I bet this is all just a big show and play-acting to fool the public.'
Mustapa: International panel to study Lynas plant
Quigonbond: The international panel is probably going to take a long time to come up with the report, possibly after the general election.
If BN wins, they will push ahead with the operations. If they lose, it will be Pakatan Rakyat's problem. Will Pakatan dare to make this a political issue and call for the shutting down the project to the tune of hundreds of millions, where probably significant amounts may have gone to the pockets of the Pahang MB and the ministry's folks?
The ministry should reveal all reports on this matter now. We don't need a potentially dubious expert panel to tell us that radiation is not dangerous. Impose a stop-work order on the plant before Lynas injects more money into the project and eventually sue the government for a bigger amount of taxpayers' money later.
BT Tan: If only the government can be trusted to be transparent, impartial and just, there would be no Lynas plant on Malaysian soil today in the first place.
It would be better if we have a fairer and justified method of deciding whether the Lynas plant should go ahead - have a national referendum.
Dood: Shouldn't this have been done long before it came to this point? I bet this is all just a big show and play-acting to fool the public.
KJ Lim: Only now they are forming an international panel to study the Lynas plant after the objections and pressure from the people. And what if the panel's report says no to the plant? Is the Pahang government going to compensate Lynas for breaking the contract?
Rick Teo: If it was safe why did the Australians not build it in their own country? That alone sums up the danger of having a rare earth factory on Malaysian soil.
Tuah PJ: If the study comes out that it is not safe, what is the Malaysian government going to do then? Compensate Lynas? Is this going to come from us taxpayers' pockets? Who approved the Lynas application in the first place in which we, the taxpayers, may have to bear the cost of their stupidity?
Gauntlet thrown at DPM over Interlok issue
Louis: The prime minister is not free to see Niat until June and all they asked is just 15 minutes of his time. But sodomy complainant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan was able to see him so easily to ask for 'help' in getting a scholarship. Just think about that.
Docs: What about MIC? Last we heard, the MIC leadership was fine with the contents of Interlok and thus suggested that the rakyat should not question its contents. In short, MIC has already stated that they are fine with their ‘pariah' status.
As for the DPM, it looks like his version of promoting ‘Ketuanan Melayu' in order to garner the Malay support for him with this Interlok issue seems to be backfiring. Sadly no one in Umno seems to be sticking their heads out for our DPM on this issue.
James Dean: Both MIC and MCA can in no way influence the government on any important national issues. These parties can at best only bring up matters concerning clogged drains, hawkers obstructing traffic, uncollected garbage and some mundane issues.
Interlok is a national issue that is too big for them - that explains their silence. If MIC and MCA are to claim to be equal partners in BN then state your stand here. Let us throw a challenge to MIC and MCA to come forward and take a leading role in resolving this long-standing issue to the satisfaction of the aggrieved parties.
Kit Carson: Niat should keep up the pressure and carry on the good work. As a fellow Muslim and educationist, I am appalled at the arrogance of DPM Muhyiddin Yassin who makes changes to our education system at his whims and fancies as though the Education Ministry is his grandfather's property.
That's the trouble in this country. The big Napoleons and little Napoleons don't care two hoots for the voices of the masses who put them there in the first place.
'Gov't tripping over themselves on 1M'sia Email'
Atan-Toyol: I have been communicating with a local authority by using my Yahoo email, addressed to the local authority's e-mail address that has the .gov.my extension, without sweat.
So, what's the advantage of using Tricube's email? The advantage is all to the shareholders of the Tricube, of course. Mr PM, don't fleece us please. Anyway, I am told it is a stolen idea.
Wfworker: This is more than re-inventing the wheel. When the whole world is riding free on so many websites, we have this money-spinning proposal to take the poor rakyat yet for another ride. Surely Malaysians are a lot smarter than this.
Lim Chong Leong : For many years I had resisted changing my IC to the myKad because money will be paid to a crony for each myKad issued. Then the 1Malaysia government implemented steps in the government machinery to stop recognising the old IC, like we cannot renew our passports without the myKad.
Under protest, I exchanged my old IC for the myKad. You can see my face frowning in the myKad photo as though I was sitting on a durian. Now we will be forced to use this 1Malaysia email (even when we do not have Internet access), or else your whole life may suffer as you cannot pay quit rent, assessment, income tax, renew licences, etc, without it.
We will also have to place all our personal details which could be abused by Big Brother, and the government will happily pay using our tax money. Just like Puspakom, tolls and removal of oil subsidies, our money is forced out from our pockets to be channelled to cronies.
Wira: Every 1Malaysia greeting from the prime minister to, say, 16 million email boxes of Malaysian will generate RM8 million to Tricubes. Najib uses email to promote BN and we, the taxpayers, end up paying. This is faster than printing money.
Nuckin: Tricubes = Trick U to Buy Email Scam.
