Osama may be gone, but fight is not over

your say 'Justifying killing in the name of God/Allah - Osama bin Laden was not the first one and he won't be the last one.'

Osama is dead; Obama declares justice is done

Cala: No matter how one looks at it, Osama cannot be pardoned for causing deaths to thousands of innocent people. A conflict will, as we learn from history, sow the seed for the next conflict to take place. If it goes on, peace shall never return.

To me, enlightened leaders should take the centrestage and help the world put an end to this type of terror, which is in nobody's interest.

Anonymous_5fb: When Osama bin Laden succeeded in his 9/11 operation, he claimed that "justice has been done". When US President Barack Obama succeeded in killing Osama, he declared, "Justice has been done."

Each side claimed victory over the other but it is always the innocent civilians of all colours and faiths who suffer. Ask yourselves truthfully, has justice really been done? Everyone knows the answer - it's a big NO.

Honestly, both sides are in the wrong so long as they use weapons to tackle their 'injustices'. Both sides need to re-look into their belief system and learn how they can trust each other again. That should be the direction to go to achieve ultimate peace for the world, not by eliminating one another.

Keturunan Malaysia: Osama made himself a rebel without cause by the mass killing of innocent people. Even if it is judged as an American wrong, to correct the same by making many more other heinous wrongs is definitely no justification whatsoever. It is absolutely unpardonable.

Ttloo: Osama may be dead but not his followers. New leaders taking over from Osama may prove even more lethal. It is time US and its allies do soul searching on what triggered Osama to take to arms. Hopefully, an answer is found to stop all those innocent killings. The world needs a recess.

Anonymous_3f96: Great news. The man whose hatred for infidels was legendary is gone. It is interesting that the Americans did not inform their Pakistani counterparts until after the raid. This confirms the view that it was the Pakistani intelligence (ISIS) that was providing a safe haven for Osama all along.

Anonymous_5fb: Who is the ultimate winner? I don't think vengeance is the way to go to achieve everlasting peace for the world as the seed of hatred and hate will forever be in a vicious cycle.

What good can we reap if the religion that we profess leads us to believe in extremism instead of promoting love and compassion? Let's forgive and forget Osama for whatever sins he was deemed to have committed. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Anonymous_417c: Osama killed in the name of war, but he targeted innocent civilians. A brilliant strategist, he exposed some of US shortcomings in its foreign policies. As vicious as he was, he will still tug the hearts of many, as an underdog who won against the mighty US, as a true jihadist and a brilliant man whom the US could not catch until now.

DontPlayGod: Americans cheered at the news, and the US leaders hailed that justice is finally done. The US continued to confirm Osama as the man responsible for the World Trade Centre bombings and many other atrocities (all in the name of Allah). But alas, our 22-year PM cast doubts on this bombing episode and claims that it is a myth.

GI Joe: Americans are the real terrorists, invading small nations, killing the innocent people, creating instability in the Middle East - and all because of oil. There will always be another Obama as long as the Americans behave the way they are behaving - a damn arrogant bully.

Loyal Malaysian: You live by the sword, you die by the sword. Yet I can't help but ponder whether the root causes of extremism that drove militants to willing give up their lives for martyrdom has been reduced over the years! For example, the Palestinian issue with the Israelis still persecuting ordinary citizens and the abject poverty of most citizens in countries like Afghanistan and Iraq, etc.

James Dean: With all those celebrations going on, the Americans think that with the death of Osama, the world will all of a sudden become a safer place. I have my doubts.

However, had it been George W Bush in the place of Osama bin Laden, the world may really be safer after all. The devious decision taken by Bush in invading Iraq has made the whole world less safe for even those who are not Americans. Many non-Americans resent this. Like some say, "Judgment belongs to God alone."

The soft-spoken millionaire 'mass murderer'

Anonymous_3f96: Some people preach peace, compassion and love - Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Dalai Lama and Sai Baba. Others are the opposite. They bring the message of hate and violence. In this category are Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot and Osama.

The hatred that Osama had for infidels was legendary. He was an evil man who had no qualms killing innocent men, women and children. The bombings and killings of hundreds of innocent civilians in Bali, Jakarta, New York, London, Madrid, Mumbai, Casablanca, Nairobi and Marrakesh are testimony to this.

Good riddance to Osama, who was a global mass murderer.

BTN: Allah is great. The devil who disguised himself as a human being and pretended to further the teaching of the mighty Prophet Muhammad has finally been exterminated. This is truly a great day for all Muslims as his deeds and actions in using the name of Allah in vain are finally over.

Ksn: Anyone can be soft spoken and rich. But that is no reason or justification to kill anyone, especially innocent people. To remind what the Mahatma had said: "I am prepared to die for a cause but I am not prepared to kill for any reason."

Regardless of Osama's rationalisation for the attacks, fanaticism does not pay and those who pay with their lives are the innocent who are misled and misguided. The earlier everyone realises this important point, the better it will be for the whole world.

I do not deny either that the vested powers have their own interests at heart.

Cannon: Osama went on a global jihad and implored his brethren to join the cause to rid the world of infidels. The Muslims in the Middle East are not responding to his call, but are rising up in fury to overthrow their own rulers in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Syria, Yemen, and Bahrain.

The enemies that have kept the people in the Muslim world in oppression and abject poverty arise from within.

Swipenter: Justifying killing in the name of God/Allah - Osama was not the first one and he won't be the last one.
