PKR: Bkt Aman behind anti-Anwar talks in K'tan

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: Even if it is PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim in the tape, since when does the police get involved in politics to the point of campaigning for the BN in a PAS-controlled state. Is the sex tape a threat to national security?

The entire gathering it seems was highly political and aimed to instigate civil servants to vote against Pakatan Rakyat and to support BN. I suggest that the police, if true, just disband and become a brigade of Umno/BN and Perkasa.

This is an utter disgrace considering that it involves a senior police officer who ought to be suspended pending an inquiry. PKR should report to the newly-formed Enforcement Agencies Integrity Commission (EAIC) and Police Service Commission for action to be taken.

It also proves where the loyalties of the police lie, not in defending the people but in ensuring that Umno/BN stays in power forever. The police being a branch of the civil service is expected to be neutral. If it wants to take sides with Umno/BN, then the people are going to stand against the police.

Cannon: The Umno-BN regime is all out to prevent the evolution of a two-party system. Umno cannot afford to cede power to Pakatan. The warlords in Umno have too much to hide and too much to lose.

If BN is voted out of power, many of these characters won't find themselves sitting on the opposition bench. They'll be sitting in jail. That's why they are going flat out to put Anwar in jail before it happens to them.

The stakes are high. It is clear that the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) has shed its professionalism and renounced its allegiance to uphold the law. Umno has transformed PDRM into its image.

Sarajun Hoda: Let's hope this is not true. The police must come clear of such accusations and reclaim its integrity. The police should know that they serve the current government in place, not the political party Umno and certainly cannot be its tool. Mana maruah polis?

M'sia1st: I'm asking all wise Malaysians, under which law Anwar could be prosecuted in relation to the video? Not under any Malaysian civil or criminal law. Unless we talk about syariah law.

Even if you go to Syariah Court, Datuk T must be able to produce four credible witnesses who saw the actual intercourse, which is almost impossible. On the other hand, under section 292 of the Penal Code, Datuk T should be prosecuted for screening the sex tape in public.

If that is the case, then it's pretty certain that the powers-that-be is involved and regrettably police force has been, as usual, used as the tool to smear and character-assassinate Anwar.

Justiceseeker_Bill44: Anyway I don't think those principals and teachers will be so gullible as to believe that Anwar is a threat to national security. Threat to BN security ... yes!

Anonymous_4076: This is expected. Any dictatorial state worth its salt will seek to use the police - its internal security force - to work for them. The police in Malaysia is so steeped in corruption with the government that it has no alternative but to work with the government to sustain their power base.

Change in government has serious repercussions not only for high-ranking government officials but similar ranking police officers. The risk of losing power is too great; hence the involvement of the police in the matter.

We have known for a long time that the police are not independent of the state. I expected this and much from them before the election is over. A blogger questioned whether the police will stop the transfer of power if opposition were to win; I guess they will try but only the army has such power.

We, the people, must stop the continuous erosion of the law and morality. We no longer live in 'Bolehland'. It's 'Ourland' from now on.

Dood: And the police wonder why they are so hated by the public.

Anak Bangsa Malaysia: Many years ago, in my encounter with a couple of police friends, I was told that the first sodomy case was true and that they had inside information on the matter. It was quite convincing but I did not believe them. And we know that when Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was the PM, the Federal Court threw the case out.

Now we are confronted with the second sodomy case and the sex video. I believe the government, especially Umno (and Perkasa) are desperate. The government has stooped very low indeed to get the police involved.

Anyway, the PDRM has no credibility whatsoever, and therefore it is not surprising to hear that they are going around to poison people's minds. The opposition then must have a counteracting device to explain to the rakyat and deflect all the false allegations, be it from the government or the police.

Patrick: This is the problem due to the stupidity of our home ministers past and present. They are using the police and all other agencies to do their dirty work of intimidating the general public. Yet, they do not realise that this is totally wrong and it is actions like this that make the rakyat turn away from them.

The irony is when the rakyat vote against them, they will blame it on anyone and everyone without even having just a little bit of intelligence to ask themselves whether they have been governing in a fair and professional manner. How do you deal with such people who never ever reflect on their inappropriate actions?

Cala: If my memory does not fail me, votes secured by the opposition are 49 percent of total votes cast in March 8, 2008 general election. In the recent Sarawak state election, it secured 43 percent of the votes cast. By any standard, the figures are no laughing matter.

Since Anwar is the de facto leader of the opposition coalition, the smear campaign conducted by the police tantamount to showing disrespect to those who have thrown their support behind Anwar.

Lover Boy: PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, I think you got it wrong - that this is confined to Bukit Aman. I feel the whole PDRM is working against the opposition and Anwar.

Look at the Datuk T trio - an offence has been committed, yet they were escorted to the mosque by the police to take the oath. Who do you think gave them the bullet proof vests if not the police?

Pakman: Inspector-general of police Ismail Omar has been quiet since deputy IGP Khalid Abu Bakar was appointed. Is this involvement sanctioned by IGP or DIGP with endorsement for Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein?

IGP, if you have fully recovered from your health, we pray that you make the move to cleanse the tainted image of PDRM.

Kee Thuan Chye: Let's see what the IGP does with this. Will there be a denial, as per usual?
