Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar ( below ) has blasted PAS central committee member Dzulkefly Ahmad for what he described as the latter’s “desperate” and “despicable” lies.

NONE The Rembau MP also expressed hope that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak sues all those parties that had claimed the premier had abused his office for an overseas trip to fulfill a personal agenda of sorts.

“I thought Dr Dzul was a decent guy,” Khairy tweeted earlier today in reference to the PAS leader. “(I) didn’t think he was capable of despicable lies & desperate spin,” he said.

The  Twitter outburst follows questions raised by Dzulkefly about the moral propriety of Najib in attending his daughter’s wedding during a visit to Kazakhstan for the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF).

Regardless of the reason Najib “may concoct” to justify coinciding his visit to Kazakhstan with his daughter Nooryana Najwa Najib's wedding, the fact remains that the premier is misusing his station for personal reasons, Dzulkefly - who is Kuala Selangor MP  - claimed.

NONE "It may no problem procedurally, if your boss (the PM) approves something no one is going to question.

"But it is morally wrong to use public funds to travel to your daughter's wedding. Najib ( left, with wife Rosmah ) has no class!" Dzulkefly told Malaysiakini yesterday.

He clarified further that while it was not wrong for Najib to go to Kazakhstan for his daughter's wedding, the premier should taken leave and gone on his own time and expense, rather than make use of public funds for that purpose.

Khairy, however, is unconvinced with Dzulkefly’s moralising.

He also blasted another opposition parliamentarian - DAP’s Sibu MP Wong Ho Leng - for his “desperate & despicable lies” after Wong tweeted: “Najib went to see prospective in laws using public fund(s).”

ucsi integrity congress 160910 dzulkefly Pointing out that the WIEF had been planned a year in advance of Najib’s visit to the Kazakhstan capital Astana, Khairy told another detractor who had queried him on the matter that “Unless you can prove misuse of funds, I suggest you keep quiet.”

“PM's Kazakh trip planned long before daughter's engagement. In fact return visit for President Nazarbayev's Msia trip DURING Pak Lah's time,” he said in another tweet in reference to Kazakhstan President Nursultan Abishuly Nazarbayev’s visit to Malaysia in 2006 during former premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s term.

To another tweet suggesting he was speaking in defence of Najib’s alleged wrongdoing, Khairy said “I don't speak on behalf of anyone. I'm a senior official of Umno. I speak for my party.”

Not missing out on the twitter war that had broken out over his claims, Dzulkefly ( above ) today urged Khairy to “ask ur conscience” if he did not understand the issue he was raising.

He also cited the historical example of the Umayyad caliph Umar Abdul Aziz, who used different candles according to whether he was using them as illumination for an official business or a private matter.

The issue is “morally quite clear”, Dzulkefly maintained.
