Free PSM 6 now, stop the blatant lies
'The police can keep on hounding those who wear yellow, but it cannot win the hearts of the common people who will decide BN's fate.'
Anwar: Arrest of Jeyakumar an insult to Parliament
KSN: The entire approach of the government - abusing the police force, the arrests, detentions, disruptions, arbitrary decisions to outlaw democratic protests, etc - are an insult to the Parliament and the people.
But in the process, those aberrations committed by these agencies have contributed immensely to the awakening of our people to the need, essential as it is, for a change of government.
Whether the Bersih rally takes place or not is not at all important now because its aim has been achieved even before the march date arrives.
Shame on Umno, the entire government, Perkasa and Ibrahim Ali, Ali Rustam, Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the like, who deserve our thanks and appreciation for their contributions to highlight what a government should not be.
NX: A group of NGOs under Bersih 2.0 chose to have approximately 100,000 citizens to march for free and fair elections.
The response from the government has been to unleash Perkasa, Umno Youth and silat groups to wage violence, declaring yellow shirts unlawful, arresting and raiding those in Bersih office, arresting PSM members under the Emergency Ordinance, etc.
This reflects a government that is so afraid of the rakyat, so afraid of free elections, so afraid that its misdeeds will be exposed, so afraid that its wealth that they have accumulated via commissions will seized, so afraid that they will labelled as an unIslamic bunch of politicians.
The message to the government is, you have failed and the majority of the rakyat is against your evil ways. It's a matter of time before you appear before the people or before God to account for your misdeeds.
Docs: It looks like the PM and the home minister just ensured that Dr Jeyakumar will retain his parliamentary seat in the next GE (with a higher majority) and elevated PSM status as a party.
All this thanks to Umno arresting him under Emergency Ordinance, and thus indirectly elevated him to ‘freedom fighter' status.
Mirror on the Wall: Even at the height of the communist threat during the era known as the Malaysian Emergency, wearing red shirts or dresses did not result in arrests or detentions. The threat now must be worse than the armed conflict with communist insurgents of yonder!
Multi Racial: PM Najib today said the Emergency Ordinance detentions were due to suspicions that the six were involved with subversive elements and to prevent more serious incidents from taking place.
How many people will believe these people are involved in subversive elements? This government has gone way too far. They have lied, broken the laws and gone against the constitution just to do what they like.
It is a darkest day for Malaysia. It is a sad day.
Bakri MP Er Teck Hwa, 5 others arrested
Passing Cloud: BN might as well ban the word ‘Bersih' and remove the word from Kamus Dewan.
The police can keep on hounding and arresting peaceful protesters who wear yellow Bersih attires, but it cannot win the hearts of the common people who will decide its fate in the coming general election.
Kit P: Umno-BN has painted itself into a corner by using its sledgehammer approach to Bersih. Left to its own, Bersih may have ended up a moderately attended walk for a few hours on July 9, with bored onlookers.
Instead, Bersih is now on everyone's radar. The opposite of Bersih is ‘kotor'. Now we all know who is the Kotor gang.
Anonymous_208: They can ban a public rally and banish a colour but they cannot ban what is in our hearts. When the next general elections come, they will understand this.
Keanjin: PM Najib Razak is going to use Dr Mahathir Mohamad's method (of mass arrests) to handle the Bersih problem, but with the modern technologies, how far can he bury the opposition leaders?
Anonymous_1d56: Anybody who believes Bakri MP Er Teck Hwa's intention of a gotong-royong must be very, very slow up there. Anyway, why was he complaining about? Nowadays, every opportunist seems to be begging to get arrested because they think they will be an instant hero.
Montie: There is nothing wrong with the gotong-royong activities, but because they use the yellow colour banner and T-shirts. You can see how dirty this enforcement agency can be by simply using their authority as though the nation is a police state.
The more suppression is carried out, the more influence the public will get to be and so the days are countable for any oppressive government, even the one in Bolehland. Ask the police whether their officers dare to go after any member of royalty in yellow.
Up2U: It just show our men and women in uniform have been trained to blindly follow instructions and not to think at all. I believe that's the norm for all personnel in uniform all over the world.
Our top leaders in the police, Army and other uniform personnel are all appointees of Umno/BN and as such their allegiance without any doubt are to their political masters.
Mingxiang: Police, don't say we are tarnishing the image of the force. Your goons are doing a great job of it. Just look what is going on. Wear yellow and participate in gotong royong can get people arrested. It's not as funny as it is pathetic.
