PAS Titiwangsa MP Dr Lo' Lo' passes away
PAS’ Titiwangsa member of parliament Dr Lo’ Lo' Mohd Ghazali is said to be ‘very ill’ with cancer but is still battling the cancer that has stricken the Islamist politician.
PAS' Titiwangsa member of parliament Dr Lo' Lo' Mohd Ghazali passed away at 10.13pm tonight at Selayang Hospital in Kuala Lumpur. She was 54.
“Dr Lo'lo' has just taken her last breath a moment ago…” read the MP’s official Twitter at 10.30pm.
She was earlier said to be 'very ill' with cancer but is still battling the illness.
When contacted earlier, a family member confirmed the activist was in critical condition. Family members were at her bedside.
“She was just given sedatives by the doctors, and is currently resting,” he told Malaysiakini when contacted at the time.
“We ask that people offer their prayers for her well-being,” he added.
Lo’ Lo', the daughter of former Perak mufti Mohd Ghazali Abdullah, worked at a government hospital for six years before transferring to private practice.
No by-election
She was very active in PAS’ women’s wing but has since March 8, 2008 been significantly preoccupied in the constituency of Titiwangsa, which she won with a 1,972 majority over BN’s Aziz Jamaludin Mohd Tahir.
There however will be no by-election as the Parliament term has already gone past three years. The Titiwangsa seat will only be filled when the next general election is called.
Upon news of her death on various online media, cyberspace was flooded with condolences from both sides of the political divide remembering her fondly.
Prayers will be held tomorrow morning at Masjid al-Akram in Datuk Keramat, Kuala Lumpur.
