Delegates attending the 49th PAS Muktamar (general assembly) were shocked by the last-minute decision of religious scholar Dr Harun Din (photo) to withdraw from contesting the deputy president's post.

The respected ulama (religious scholar) decided to back out after it was announced that there would be a three-way contest for the post.
