Malay rights group Perkasa today condemned the Star as an enemy of the Islam, over a gaffe where the English daily had accidentally featured pork in its 'Ramadan Delight' special pullout.

“I don't accept the explanation that it was a mistake. We all know who the Star editor is.

“I believe that they are testing the limits of Muslim tolerance," charged Ibrahim after chairing the group's supreme council meeting at the Sultan Sulaiman Club in Kuala Lumpur.

He insisted the Star blunder was a "blatant challenge" to Islam, blaming the daily for "consistent attacks on Islam".

Ibrahim declared that it was therefore necessary for Perkasa to “reclaim the role of defender of Islam” accusing PAS pf having failed in the role.

"The Kelantan MB himself is no longer concerned about Islam; he is now more enamoured with votes and will compromise on anything," he said.

Trumpeting his pressure group as the “last defence” of the Malay Muslims, the vocal Pasir Mas MP even went as far as drawing comparisons of what he called "Malay suffering" with the plight of the Palestinians.

’We’ll do a Bersih’

Ibrahim also announced Perkasa’s supreme council resolution today urging the government and the attorney-general to take immediate action upon three issues that he complained were taking too long to resolve.

1. The Bersih 2.0 electoral reform rally and its prime mover S Ambiga

2. The sex video allegedly featuring Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim

3. The meeting allegedly conducted between Christian pastors and the DAP during a dinner in Penang

"Perkasa believes that these issues have gone on for long enough without government action. They should take action now.

"The AG should bring this to the courts. Let the courts decide if there is a prima facie case.

"But what more prima facie do you need really? The whole world knows that Ambiga went ahead with the Bersih rally despite it being declared illegal.

“She even goes against the advise of the Agong to hold it in a stadium.

“And the (Datuk T) sex tape: experts from Korea and the US already said it is one hundred percent him (Anwar),” he continued.

"If the government does not take action in the three matters above within a reasonable time period, Perkasa will do something, similar to what the Bersih people did.

“When that happens, the government cannot complain," warned Ibrahim.

Another show of keris

In a small ceremony afterward, Perkasa Youth burned copies of Star and demanded greater earnestness on the part of the its management.

“Can they please look at this perkasa burn the star 140811 1 issue more seriously? This involves Islam. Please respect the race which forms the majority in this country," said Perkasa Youth chief Irwan Fahmi Ideris after leading a group in burning a copy of the Star as well as an enlarged colour photocopy of the paper.

Irwan also personally unsheathed a keris to rend the paper several times before setting it on fire with a lighter.

Ibrahim had earlier give his full "blessings" and support for the actions of the youth wing.
