'Questions must be asked whether the raid by Jais is political since it was done without the knowledge of its director, the Selangor MB and as well as the palace.'
Church 'raid': S'gor forms panel to resolve row
Vijay47: Please, not another council, committee or commission. We have been having these ad nauseum and we all know how this one also is going to be concluded: "It was all a misunderstanding and the parties involved have agreed to let bygones be bygones."
The mere fact the authorities have agreed to a council clearly reveals that Jais has absolutely no case. If it had even an iota of evidence against DUMC (Damasara Utama Methodist Church), it would have gone to town about Christian wrongdoing and be baying for the church's blood.
For far too long, Christians have been turning the biblical 'other cheek'. Let whomsoever was wrong, Christian or Muslim, be identified and let him be punished.
This rubbish should not be allowed to go on, Malaysian Christians cannot continue to be accused day in and day out of all manner of crimes.
FairPlay: The Selangor sultan's advice is indeed most appropriate. Currently, it is a Mexican stand-off (stalemate) between Jais (Selangor Islamic Affairs Department) and DUMC. I hope a lesson is learnt for those concerned.
Gen2: The Selangor government should issue a White Paper to answer all questions transparently regarding this raid.
Was it a raid or was it an inspection visit? What were the police's term of reference during the incident? Was proselytising being done and what were the evidence, if so?
So far, there has only been leaked insinuations, claims and counter-claims mainly made by people who were not involved in the actual incident but who have their own agenda to keep the issue alive.
The White Paper should spell out how future raids/inspections should be conducted. In fact, it should even extend to how khalwat raids are conducted as we have seen several deaths during these raids. To cause a human death on the pretext of defending morals is totally abhorrent.
If laws have been broken, prosecution should follow. Lucky for us, this raid/inspection did not deteriorate into a physical fight and the purpose of the White Paper is to prevent such a fight happening in the future.
Ferdtan: What is there to resolve over the church raid row when the report from Jais is not finalised yet? Are they putting the cart before the horse? There must be a conclusion as to who is at fault; Jais, the NGO Harapan Komuniti or the church, DUMC?
Questions must be asked whether the raid by Jais is political since it was without the knowledge of its director, the Selangor MB and as well as the palace.
The advice by the Selangor sultan to form a syura council should not preclude the finding of the truth behind the raid. Otherwise, without public condemnation of the real wrongdoers, expect the same incident to happen again.
Why is Jais taking so long to come out with their report? How come there are leakages of the preliminary report from the raid, assumingly from Jais, that have been appearing in pro-Umno blogs?
Anonymous: It's high time the Selangor sultan and the menteri besar oversee the investigation. As it is, Jais appears to be jury and judge and soon-to-be executioner.
Reports and video clips are released to give impression church and Muslims are already guilty without providing them with a fair chance to defend themselves.
One cannot expect the investigation by Jais to be fair and objective given the above and the high-handed raid with 20 police officers with no search warrant.
The council should invite Christian leaders and of other faiths to be present to gain the trust and confidence of the rakyat.
Tkc It is about time we get our sanity back because the events of the past few weeks have been totally insane. The proposed consultative council will hopefully allow all parties to chill without losing face.
Moving forward, and can we please, please, please stop mixing politics with religion?
RR In today's world, all this religious rigidity only creates more tension and more disharmony amongst the peace-loving rakyat.
The leaders and the rakyat should learn to respect all religions and allow some latitude for freedom of movement or mixing between races of different religions for greater understanding of one another.
Najib, Nazri insulting Parliament, says PAS
Lim Chong Leong: They never meant for the parliamentary select committee on election reform to even materialise. It was just talk to keep themselves afloat temporarily. They are hoping for a miracle but it ain't coming.
Rick Teo: As usual, our flip-flop PM Najib Razak is merely following the footsteps of his predecessor, the sleeping beauty.
No wonder our country is going to be a third world country with such leaders leading the country. Look what we have after Najib?
A DPM who is Malay first and whose only agenda for the nation is bumiputera rights. For all the non-Malays, there is no place for you here. Start packing and find a place somewhere else.
Jimmy Ng : They (Najib and Nazri Abdul Aziz) are not only insulting the August house but the rakyat of Malaysia. Such are their display of arrogance and high-handedness.
Loyal Malaysian Let's be honest. Since the time of that ‘uncrowned king', Parliament has been delegated to a necessary evil in the scheme of things by the Umnoputras. That Najib and Nazri are insulting Parliament is hardly a surprise.
