Gerakan president Koh Tsu Koon has refused to comment on his plans for the next general election, including suggestions that he take on Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

koh tsu koon gerakan agm 2011 story Koh (right) said he could not comment on speculation in the papers.

"I do not intend to comment on so many articles on many things. They are all speculative although some may turn out to be true. In life you may sometimes get a surprise. I know what I'm doing, but I am not saying (anything)," he said.

Koh was speaking after the National Patriotic Song Competition for secondary schools at the Gerakan headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.

He was asked to comment on his speech at the Gerakan general assembly over the weekend, when he had expressed willingness to sacrifice himself , and also on reports in the Sin Chew Daily that he will not contest in the next general election.

Responding on the issue of sacrificing himself, Koh said “you will get to know when I announce it”.

Koh said there are many views on this, “but I choose not to comment today”.

DPM to handle Kalabakan MP

He welcomed assurances by deputy premier Muhyiddin Yassin who, as chief whip, will consider if action should be taken against Abdul Ghapur Salleh.

NONE Ghapur (left) , the Kalabakan MP, had alleged that Gerakan had paid money to secure attendance at a recent event in Sabah.

“We ask that disciplinary action be taken against him, but it depends on the deputy prime minister to take action or not,” said Koh, noting that the claim is not false and unwarranted.

The matter was brought up on Monday during the debate on Budget 2012 which, Koh said, was the wrong place to bring up a party-related matter.

"I thank Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman and Backbenchers Club secretary Abdul Rahman Dahlan for their support. They said Ghapur had expressed his personal views, which were not that of Umno or BN Sabah," he said.

Koh pointed out there are many component BN party members in the state and that there is no necessity to pay them to secure attendance.
