Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim rebuked attempts by Selangor Umno to disparage the Pakatan Rakyat's administration in the state by producing their own version of the ‘Buku Jingga' (‘Orange Book').

NONE The book outlines the promises made by Pakatan to be implemented if it were to wrest control of Putrajaya.

"Umno is more interested in the ‘Buku Jingga', they even have their own version of it," the Permatang Pauh MP told reporters in the Parliament lobby today.

He claimed that the booklets were produced by Umno to counter the economic reforms promised in the ‘Buku Jingga'.

He also showed other printed material which depicted the opposition as "opportunists and liars" while stressing on the benefits of supporting for BN.

  Transformation versus Reformation

One of the booklets, a graphic novel, entitled ‘Tranformasi vs Reformasi' (‘Transformation versus Reformation'), featured the pledges offered by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Anwar.

Another comic titled, ‘Siapa Rosmah ? ' (‘Who is Rosmah'), defends the premier's wife against the opposition's allegations that she was being lavish and extravagant.

"I'm not worried about their arguments against ‘Buku Jingga', but what I want to raise, are their attacks against me, PAS and DAP leaders, in a rude manner," said Anwar.

"They portray us as criminals, using state funds to belittle and disparage the government... they even raised an issue with my perut buncit (pot-belly), I don't even remember ever having a pot-belly.

"They can say Rosmah is a philanthropist and thrifty...that is absolutely fine, just don't defame anyone else," he said.

He reiterated, his challenge to Najib to face off with him in a public debate of the government's 2012 Budget, instead of resorting to such vile tactics, Instead of wasting on money on things like the booklets.

I have suggested it many times and I'm willing to accept their terms and conditions to avoid the debate getting too tense," he said.
