Of mat rempit, racism and communism in Penang

VOXPOP 'Just because the CM didn't approve a race track, he is a racist? I think they got confused with the word ‘race' here (race as in racist, not race as in race track).'

Mat rempit accuse Penang CM of racism

Slimboy: CM Lim Guan Eng is doing such a good job in governing Penang that it is an embarrassment for the BN regime. He has shown the Penangites how corrupt and inefficient the BN was under former CM Koh Tsu Koon.

Pathetically, they have turned to the dregs of our society for help. It looks like BN has totally run out of ideas because they forget it is difficult to bring a good man down.

Continue the good work Lim, and continue to exasperate them till they are blue in their faces. What next, BN? Do a ‘Dato T' on Lim?

Bender: A lot of things don't really add up here. First, there's the Pertubuhan Islam Gabungan Amal, which is fine by itself but for it to join forces with the mat rempit ? That's way too odd and stinks of Umno all over.

Then, there's the demand for a race track? What does that have to do with the Pertubuhan Islam? It's fine if the mat rempit are asking for a track, but why did it involve Pertubuhan Islam? If they're asking for surau or masjid, it's understandable, but a race track?

Then the racist part. Just because the CM didn't approve a race track, he is a racist? I think they got confused with the word ‘race' here (race as in racist, not race as in race track).

Malulah: I just hope that the non-Muslims will think all Muslims are with mat rempit . And they dare even to carry the Islamic banner. As we approach the election, more of this kind of nonsense will surface. You don't need a crystal ball to see this.

Chicheonfun: It's a working Monday and there are people demonstrating - it shows that either they have no work or were simply paid to be there.

Gandhi: The stark contrast between the mat rempit and the four Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) students who won in the Court of Appeal case shows us that there'll always be dumb youths who can never think about their future. Mat rempit are a menace to society.

Borg Kinaulu: Perhaps Lim Guan Eng's government should engage the racers to explore all options. While the political agenda in this rally was very obvious, a genuine interest for constructive solutions can win over even the mat rempit .

The Penang government needs to demonstrate that it is truly a government for all, including those on the fringes of society.

Anonymous_40a7: Hey mat rempit , I have a suggestion for you - why don't you all head to Putrajaya and have your ‘race track' there? I'm sure the government won't mind, since the roads are underutilised and wide enough for you guys to speed around.

Avathar: Give them a track. But before using it, these riders must sign on as organ donors. As such, Penang will have endless supply of organ donations, which is good for medical tourism.

'Penang Pakatan government still in honeymoon'

Fairnessforall: Penang Opposition Leader Azhar Ibrahim, are you saying that BN has fulfilled all its promises to the rakyat for the last 54 years? Please answer that first.

At least CM Lim Guan Eng is doing a much better job than former CM Koh Tsu Koon. You can't fool the people anymore with lies as we can see clearly who is doing what.

Confused: Is this Azhar fellow for real? Please look at the mirror first before making the accusation that the current Penang government is not doing much for the state in the last three years.

So what has the BN contributed to the state in its 41 years in power? All we can see is corruption, leakages and nothing else.

Has BN fulfilled all its many promises that they have made during any of the elections? Why can't our politicians make constructive criticism with substantiated facts?

Sabahan: Penang is one of few states praised in the Auditor-General's Report. If Penang is in honeymoon mood, we should let the state government take over the federal government. Even in a honeymoon mood, they have done so much better.

Azhar: Does Penang gov't support communism?

Milosevic: In the United States, there is the Communist Party of America. In Tunisia, there is the Mouvement de la Rénovation-Ettajdid, a socialist party, which was formerly the Tunisian Communist Party.

As far as I know, their members are free to use public toilets. Does it mean the political system in these societies actively supports communism?

Why are there politicians like Azhar Ibrahim in Penang, who are not able to suggest alternative policies that could make Penang an even better place? Why isn't he asking the government probing questions about how best to promote research and development in Penang, or build a world-class infrastructure, or a vibrant entrepreneurial culture?

Azhar, there are a lot of smart people in Penang. You must behave in a way that makes them proud of their political system. Be a first-class opposition politician, but if you can't, step aside in favour of someone better than you.

Anonymous_3e16: The Penang opposition leader should have asked the chief minister how he and his team could managed to reduce the state debt (incurred during Gerakan/BN times) from federal government within three years - from RM630 million to RM29 million.

DannyLoHH: Umno should look in the mirror first before making accusations against the Penang government.

Umno Youth was the one which signed a pact with the Communist Party in China over some political awareness programme. So, following Azhar's logic, isn't that means that Umno is supporting communism?

By extension, isn't it hypocritical of Umno to accuse PSM as communist when Umno themselves are colluding with the biggest communists in the world?

Also, how ignorant can Azhar be when he can't seems to have the capability to differentiate between communist and socialist. It seems that to him communism is socialism.

Can someone from Umno please educate your opposition leader that communism is not the same as socialism?
