'Pakatan jealous of KR1M's success'

Pakatan Rakyat's criticism of products sold by the Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) is due to jealousy over the success of the government-spearheaded programme, says Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
An Utusan Malaysia report today quotes him as saying that Pakatan was willing to discredit KR1M for political mileage, even though the programme benefited the people.
If the opposition coalition has a better idea, Tengku Adnan said, it should come up with a programme better than KR1M.
"Not by twisting facts with accusations that the products sold are supposedly not good," he was quoted as saying.
Last week, Pakatan representatives led by Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua charged that savings from KR1M products were exaggerated and some products even contravened the Food Act 1983 and Food Regulations 1985.
Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd, which operates the KR1M outlets, has since denied the allegations, making a point-by-point rebuttal.
Similarly, in a separate report by the daily, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob accused Pakatan of discrediting the programme because it was worried that people supported it.
"They (Pakatan) are worried, that is why they are attacking," Ismail was quoted as saying.
