A cock-and-bull response from top cop

YOURSAY 'Why is Khalid Abu Bakar so quick in drawing preliminary conclusion of the NFC's case - it is very unbecoming of a police chief. '

Preliminary findings: No CBT in NFC, says deputy IGP

your say Tkc: Breach of trust can be broadly divided into two categories: (1) breach of trust through negligence or (2) breach of trust through fraud (criminal breach of trust - CBT).

In (1), if funds were disbursed even before the contract was signed, isn't someone in the Agriculture Ministry or Finance Ministry negligent? If yes, he/she should be fired or severely reprimanded.

In (2), how could NFC justify the draw-down of 70% of the RM250 million funds when they could only produce less than 10% of the original cattle headcount target? The only logical explanation is that there were fake invoices and delivery orders to justify the claim.

If the police is serious in their work, it would not be difficult to find the incriminating evidence in the details of the AG's (auditor-general's) report - unless those evidence have been destroyed in that crucial two-week window when the report was deliberately delayed.

If that was the case, destroying evidence is also a criminal offence.

Pemerhati: By now all thinking Malaysians know that PM Najib Razak and Umno have a ‘you help me and I help you' type of relationship with the police.

This was glaringly obvious during the police investigation of the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder. They arrested two police officers who were just carrying out the orders and had no motive for the crime, but did not arrest the person who gave the orders to kill and had a strong motive for the murder.

In the NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) case too, they are following the same strategy of not looking at and ignoring the obvious alleged criminal wrongdoings by Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and her family.

Umno leaders in the government return these and other favours by the police by coming to the police's help when they kill people in custody by getting the pathologists and coroners to come out with ridiculous findings.

They also allow the police to allegedly earn a lucrative income from the underworld's criminal activities such as loan sharking, prostitution and gambling.

Ferdtan: When it comes to inappropriateness of Umno leaders, the police instantly are like the three monkeys: 'See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.'

The police leadership are beyond redemption - when a time comes when Pakatan Rakyat takes over Putrajaya, they shall be held accountable for the deliberate dereliction of duties.

We believe this case should fall under MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission), and if not under CCID (Commercial Crimes Investigation Department).

I wonder why DIGP (deputy inspector-general of police) Khalid Abu Bakar is so quick in drawing preliminary conclusion of the NFC's case - it is very unbecoming of a police chief. His typical statement smelt of politics, all the way.

Lim Chong Leong: The fact that they investigated NFC and its sister companies for CBT shows the police are not serious in their work or are trying to cover up.

The auditor-general's report is clear that the government had disbursed a suspicious loan, and that the company had poor administration over the loan resulting in losses.

Of course, there is no CBT. They were just spending all of their own money at that point. The money becomes theirs to dispose the minute after it left the government's hands.

The problem lies with the Agriculture Ministry when it ‘conspired' to steal from the national coffers and gave it to NFC. That is simple unadulterated theft.

Cala: Wait a minute, sir. If my reading of the NFC fiasco is correct, the ‘fact' of the matter is RM250 million (not a small sum by any standard) has been given to NFC as a soft loan to help certain quarters in their business.

From this sum, RM6.7 million was utilised by Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's husband to purchase two condominium units in Bangsar. Mind you, as I am made to be aware, the two said units are said to be registered under a personal name, not NFC's.

This act is as good as stealing money from NFC account for personal gains. Obviously, it is a CBT case.

Not that long ago, I remember Tan Koon Swan (ex-MCA president) was charged and later convicted for similar reason. Can someone care to throw more light on this?

Anonymous_40ca: I guess it's alright now that the deputy IGP said no CBT is involved. Now all managers of public-listed companies can put their spouses as their suppliers and this is not consider a conflict of interest because our deputy IGP says so.

If you ever get caught, just refer to the NFC case.

Pahang Maverik: I have no words to describe this act of unscrupulous, scandalous and idiotic statements of the DIGP. If that is the case, what has he to say about the auditor-general's report on the mismanagement of the fund allocated to NFC?

Ruben: I am shocked by the DIGP's response. Shocked because the evidence, if true, in terms of misuse of funds which were meant sorely for the purpose of livestock meat production, are being used for other purposes not at all related to the project, for example, the condos.

The purchase of the condos was even confirmed. Can you imagine me as the head of department using my budget to buy airline tickets for myself for non-work related travel? I will sacked on the spot.

The government and our authorities have become so arrogant and this is increasing by the day. They have lost their moral compass and it showed the strong message delivered by the rakyat in the 2008 GE has been forgotten.

It is time a stronger lesson be given to BN in the next GE.

Anonymous: Taxpayers' money is spent on an expensive car, on first class and business class travel, on high-end condos, on plots of prime residential land and on what else that we do not know yet. And the DIGP says as yet there is no issue.

Tell me, what do the leaders of the country need to commit in order to get prosecuted? Murder? Even for this, some people get off scot-free.

Shahrizat 'un-moooved' by questions on NFC

Anonymous: Of course, Muyhiddin Yassin defends NFC because he was the agriculture minister then.

Of course, Khairy Jamaluddin defends NFC because his father-in-law was the prime minister then. Of course, Shahrizat defends NFC because her husband is the chairperson and her son is a director of NFC.

The truth of the matter is they are all crooks and they covering up for each other. The greatest losers are the common rakyat.

Anak Bangsa Malaysia: Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad clearly wants Shahrizat to resign. So what can the DPM or KJ say about this?

One way to save Umno currently is for the DPM and Shahrizat to resign together. Shahrizat cannot say she has nothing to do with NFC. She must answer the allegation.

All those who are not performing, all those under performing, all those who practice corruption, and all those who condone corruption, must step aside and resign.

Blind Freddo: Why is it that in this so-called religious nation that there is no national outcry about this women and her family.

Where are the guardians of Malaysia's morals and ethics? Where is the king? Where are the sultans? Where are the leaders of Islam? Where is the press? Where are the moral members of government?

It's no wonder Malaysia ranks 33rd in the Economic Islamicity Index. Malays are not the supreme race as they are frequently told, they are number 33 in the Islamic scale and it's not the DAP and republicanism they should be fearful of, but their fellow Muslims.
