VOXPOP 'This NFC fiasco is something rural Malays can understand - and condemn. She may well be the key to bringing BN to its knees in the next election.'
Shahrizat again evades calls to resign
Shanandoah:
If Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Shahrizat Abdul Jalil refuses to resign, then BN will have a lot to answer when the hustings take place for the GE13.
With the kind of salaries paid to her husband and children for breeding cows, nobody in his right mind would want to vote for Umno.
This is plain daylight robbery by an Umno minister who refuses to take responsibility for the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) fiasco. A thief will never admit he is a thief, no matter what.
Blind Freddo: Yes, leave Shahrizat alone. This NFC fiasco is something rural Malays can understand - and condemn. She may well be the key to bringing BN to its knees in the next election.
By the way, why do all non-racist Malaysians insist on referring to her as 'mamak'. Surely there is enough reason to criticise her without resorting to such racist slurs.
Bender: What happened to her fiery attitude shown at the last Umno AGM?
Back then she even pulled up her sleeves and was practically 'ready for combat' when talking about the NFC fiasco.
Now, all she can say is 'no, no' and then cabut (run away)? What kind of leader, senator and minister is this?
She should show the same kind of bravado when facing the rakyat (i.e. reporters) and not just during the party assembly when everyone in the hall was pretending to love her.
Change Agent: Why should Shahrizat resign, given that the institution she belongs to actually encourages such behaviour? The women in red and white (Wanita Umno) have all applauded and ‘worshiped' her. Indeed, many are in the queue to acquire such ill-gotten gains.
Unless Malaysians reject such unacceptable crimes, they deserve what they vote for. They may lose an election, but they still walk away with all the wealth.
So people like her will have the last laugh. Some of us will be lucky just to get RM500 from the government.
Malaysian53: Out of millions of Umno members and thousands of leaders, only three have asked her to resign.
She is not only expected to resign but her husband, being NFC CEO, should account for the funds and measures should be taken to recover the money.
How handsomely her family members have paid themselves from the government loan - CEO husband, RM100,000 per month; eldest son, 31 years old, RM45,000 per month; and two younger children, aged in their 20s, RM35,000 per month.
A monthly salary of RM215,000 going to one family from Umno-BN government-approved funds - what qualifications/experience do these kids have to be paid such high salaries?
Go4it: Running away from the journalists is similar to running away from the rakyat. All citizens have the right to know her explanation on how the soft loan was awarded.
If it is not your influence as a cabinet minister, how was it that such a loan could have been awarded?
Anonymous: Is this why all Umno members want to be ‘wakil rakyat' - to serve or to line their pockets?
By the way, why should she resign when what she has taken from NFC is chicken feed compared to what the other ministers have taken.
FellowMalaysian: This could only have happened in two possible settings - either in Bollywood or Bolehland.
Mahathir says BN in good position to win GE
Anonymous: It is simply amazing how former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad is so out of touch with the real sentiments of the rakyat.
The BN leadership is totally deluded in believing that it has done such a fantastic job in the last threeand-a-half years that the rakyat are rushing to the polls to thank them by giving them an increased majority.
They will be rudely awakened to the fact that the electorate is more mature now and totally fed-up with the blatant and rampant corruption perpetuated by the BN leadership.
Anonymous: Remember what the MP from Titiwangsa said - that BN does not have to depend on the Chinese voters? The Malay votes are sufficient enough to deliver him victory.
He has forgotten that not all Malays will give their votes to BN. The Chinese now even cast their votes for PAS.
The BN candidates are thinking that the Chinese votes are not important. Stupid of them - BN will need Chinese to secure a two-thirds majority in GE13.
VP Biden: True, the Chinese voted for BN in 1999. It had nothing to do with currency controls, which we are still paying for now. It was the age old Islamic/hudud scare tactics that Mahathir spun in his controlled newspapers and TV stations.
The Chinese were stupid enough to fall for the trap. If not, the tsunami would have occurred in 1999, not 2008.
Rallying the BN troops via feel good messages is not going to work this time. The world and Malaysians have woken up to alternative media.
Spin as much as you want but your grave in the Web will be entombed with the words ‘Father of Racism'.
