Cowgate: MACC blind to corruption

That is - not to do anything when abuse of power, corrupt practice, reports of corruption against Umno-BN leaders are received from concerned citizens, or when taxpayers' money is siphoned by the millions under the guise of business loans to those connected to the Umno leadership.

Indeed, he is doing a good job of it. The National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) is just one of the countless such business loans given to Umnoputras to enrich themselves at the taxpayers' expense.

Hello: We should be honest and declare to the world that MACC stands for ‘Malaysia Accepts Corruption Centre'.

This is why we have the latest Global Financial Integrity report that in 2009 there was RM150 billion outflow of illicit money .

In this report, Malaysia stands fifth in the world's ranking of illicit outflows of money. This is nothing to be proud of. The MACC officials should be downright ashamed of themselves.

Kgen: An abuse of a public loan is not corruption? What is corruption then? Only when it involves opposition politicians? Shame on Abu Kassim for denying there is corruption when it is staring at him in the face.

Dzulkefly Ahmad: During the Teoh Beng Hock RCI (royal commission of inquiry), it was revealed that many Selangor MACC officers are habitual pornography viewers and they misused government facilities for that purpose.

Their big boss doesn't care a damn about it. It's shame this is happening in a Muslim country like Malaysia.

No action was taken against those officers other than transferring them out. What a waste of taxpayers' money in setting up the RCI.

Ketuanan Rakyat: This case involves senior ministers. This is why MACC is avoiding it. If it was like the Teoh Beng Hock case, they would leave no stone unturned to get to the bottom of the matter.

The writing is on the wall for Shahrizat

Onyourtoes: Look, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and her family alone obviously can't abuse public funds.

So now a diversion is created to focus only on Shahrizat, making her the sole culprit in this episode when the reality could be many other people were probably involved and benefitted enormously from it.

2CTS Worth: Onyourtoes, you are right. Shahrizat is just a little sacrificial cow offered to divert attention from the bigger cows.

Her family can't possibly get the RM250 million loan all by themselves. The police's investigation will be in perpetuality as usual. What a wonderful world!

Court throws out PAS' challenge to Assembly Bill

Dood: So if one day, Parliament passes a bill that everyone except Umno-BN members are to be shot on sight, then everyone cannot do anything except sit by idly and wait for the bill to become law and then challenge it in court?

So, in the meantime, between the time the court attends to the suit and when the bill became law, we will have an unjust law being enforced?

I know there's the separation of powers, but if the suit already has basis to challenge the bill - which will become law - because the bill is unconstitutional, then why can't the court stop it?

This is dumb. Why can't something like a stay against further action be obtained? Or even something like the court issuing an order such that if the bill comes to be law, then the order to stop its implementation will be in effect until the court examines it further?

Wira: PAS, sabar lah sikit (be patient). The court is right about you jumping the gun. However, the award of damages to the government is also jumping the gun too.

After all, they have yet to be served with a writ to contest. What is sauce for the goose must be sauce for the gander too.

Anonymous: Although I support Pakatan Rakyat, the judge was right when she said the bill was not yet law.

Only after it receives the ruler's seal can it be considered a law, and only then PAS should challenge its validity in court. PAS lawyers should have done their homework properly next time.

Blind Freddo: As I recall, the opposition was limited to three speakers during the parliamentary debate on this bill. I don't call that "ample opportunity to discuss and oppose the passage of the bill".
