Police have picked up four people and are looking for a 40-year-old man in connection with the discovery of what is believed to be pig skulls and pork outside a mosque in Johor Baru last week.

Johor police chief Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said today the four, all males aged between 15 and 33, were picked up early yesterday by a special squad investigating the case, which is headed by Johor police deputy chief Ismail Yatim.

NONE What is believed to be four pig skulls and pork were found outside the rear fence of the Al-Falah Mosque in Taman Desa Jaya at 4.45pm last Thursday and five more skulls and pork were found outside the front entrance at 6.30am the next day.

"The police have recorded statements from 13 individuals so far. We are looking for a 40-year-old man to help in the investigation," Mokhtar told reporters at the Johor police headquarters.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code, which pertains to causing disharmony, disunity or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will or prejudicing the maintenance of harmony or unity, on grounds of religion.

Advising eye-witnesses to come forward to help in the probe, Mokhtar said the police were awaiting the result of tests conducted by the Sepang Veterinary Office in Selangor to confirm whether the recovered items were pig skulls and pork.
