Only one in every four Selangor residents have faith in a PKR without its de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, according to a survey conducted by Universiti Malaya (UM).

Out of 795 respondents covering all races and ages, only 25 percent said that PKR can continue to maintain its strength without Anwar as leader.

The survey was conducted in Selangor from Dec 3 to 11 and covered the parliamentary constituencies of Puchong, Sepang, Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Selangor, Selayang, Gombak, Ampang, Hulu Langat, Pandan, Subang and Shah Alam.

Sixty percent of the respondents were Malay with Chinese and Indian making up 25 and 12 percent respectively.

On another question, one third of the respondents said that they do not believe that the sex video purportedly of Anwar is authentic.

The video, made public by the trio dubbed ‘Datuk T' earlier this year, only managed to convince 16 percent of the respondents while 53 percent were uncertain.

The percentage of those unconvinced by the video in Selangor was slightly lower than Perak (44 percent) but higher than Negeri Sembilan (27 percent).

In term of national statistics, those who believed the video stood at 20 percent while those who held the opposite view was 35 percent, with 45 percent saying they were not sure.

Interestingly, 39 percent of Selangor respondents said that the video has affected Anwar's authority, higher than those who said the opposite (27 percent) and those who were unsure (34 percent).
