No 1M'sia logo, no gov't subsidy

your say Not Confused: So now private companies are going to be blackmailed into using the 1Malaysia logo. It just shows how hollow and desperate this ridiculous government has become.

The PM (through his well-paid agency) thinks up a slogan but it has no substance nor backing from anyone except the idiots in his own government, so now he is forcing it on everyone.

It will make no difference - the country will only be truly united once the BN regime is kicked out of office for good.

Then we will all be able to feel united in our defeat of corruption, cronyism and nepotism that has been the hallmark of BN for over 50 years.

Supercession: Hello, what "subsidised by the government"? "Subsidised by the people" lah . The government merely uses the people's money to artificially lower the prices of certain items.

Kee Thuan Chye: This is too much. The subsidy money comes from the rakyat who pay taxes. It does not come from Najib or the BN government.

Najib wants people to be beholden to him and BN when they buy sugar, flour and cooking oil so they will vote BN. This is not right. It's abuse of power.

The 1Malaysia concept did not come from the rakyat. It is, in fact, a scam. The government has no right to impose this.

Producers should get together and oppose the move. If they stand together and nobody produces these essential goods, what can Najib do?

Anonymous: If I use the 1Malaysia logo, can I get discount on my bills, too?

Clever voter: A made-in-Malaysia logo is fine, but using products as propaganda is just too much. If that's the case, how about stamping all of us who were born here - after all, most of us were delivered in government-owned hospitals.

Kannan MSakti: Soon the RON95 petrol and diesel will carry 1Malaysia logo. I would not be surprised if the BN supreme council passes a resolution to change the dacing (BN's scales logo) to the 1Malaysia logo.

I guess this is the long-term plan - do the branding strategy first and later change the brand. BN's dacing is being seen as a reprehensible sign. 1Malaysia will be promoted more than the dacing logo in the coming elections.

Senior citizen: If business people do not wish to place a certain logo, then so be it. The question of imposing conditions such as ‘if no logo, no subsidy' is absolute arrogance.

Why don't you also demand that all citizens should vote for BN failing which citizenship can be withdrawn and you would be chased out of the country?

This is a sign of absolute desperation.

Faz: There is no honesty at all from the present government. I thought the policy is to wind down on subsidies as proposed by the Performance Management and Implementation Unit (Pemandu) in stages but now it is going to be implemented with a mandatory 1Malaysia logo.

2CTS WORTH: This is a very shallow act by desperate people. PM Najib Razak, why don't you order that the Umno symbol be used instead?

Anakpulau: The government subsidy is financed through taxpayers' money. Taxpayers should not be forced to use any political logo as the money belongs to the rakyat.

Anyway, there is no law for the Umno-BN government to enforce such a stupid condition. The subsidy is to help the rakyat irrespective of whether you insert a political logo in the packaging.

You Like to Play Play: It's 1Malaysia, not 1BN, so what is the fuss? When Pakatan Rakyat takes over they can call it anything they like, including Not1Malaysia.

Yellow Bird: It should not be the 1Malaysia logo, it should be Malaysia's emblem. The Malaysian emblem symbolises the government of Malaysia. On the other hand, 1Malaysia symbolises Najib Razak and the Barisan Nasional.

This is subtle brainwashing technique to fool the uninformed masses.

Dood: Najib needs to realise that government money is not his personal treasury to spend as he pleases on his personal pet projects.

You may say 1Malaysia is a national project, but the open secret is that everyone knows it's an Umno-BN's, and specifically Najib's, attempt at leaving a mark of his own behind, much like Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's failed ‘Islam Hadhari'.

Why not just cut the pretense and just say like how they did in the old days and label it ‘Satu Projek Kerajaan Barisan Nasional'?

In developed countries, this kind of chest-thumping would have led to a crucifixion - imagine, if Barack Obama had ordered all US government-subsidised products (crops, for example) must carry the slogan "Change we can believe in. Subsidised by the US government".

Appum: Subsidised food is food for all the rakyat. Do we also have to politicise food? What next?
