Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak will make a surprise announcement next week regarding the appointment of new exco members, the Malay daily Sinar Harian reported today.
Azizan (

), who has come under heavy criticisms recently amidst calls for him to step down, was quoted as saying that speculation on two exco members said to have rejected their appointments, will be addressed on Tuesday.
“Wait for Feb 28, I will make a surprise announcement. Whether there is a reshuffle of the exco positions or not... all of it will be answered on that day,” he was quoted by the daily.
On the issue of the two members who apparently rejected their re-appointment in protest, Azizan said he was puzzled as their appointment letters had not been despatched yet.
“So how can they reject if there is no appointment yet,” Azizan said, adding that it was unwise for him to reveal the names of the exco members.
Other newspapers, namely The Star and Utusan Malaysia , also reported that the Kedah government was in turmoil following, what they claimed, the rejection of appointments by four exco members.
The four were reported as Phahrolrazi Zawawi, Ismail Salleh, Dr Hamdan Mohamed Khalib and Taulan Mat Rasul. Phahrolrazi and Ismail were reported to have rejected their appointments while the two were reported by The Star as likely to follow suit.
Both the Utusan Malaysia and Sinar Harian confirmed with the Kedah state secretary office that it had not received the full list of exco members.
Azizan had previously said that some people were spreading untruths about the state government.
“There are many allegations before this which were not correct, but they continued to say so,” he added.
