Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, who is now undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Seoul, had merely enquired as to who was the PKR leader caught for committing khalwat (close proximity) in Kuantan, according to a reliable source.

He said the tengku mahkota (crown prince) never interfered in the khalwat case involving the PKR leader.

The source said on the night of Feb 25, Tengku Abdullah, who was in Kuala Lumpur before leaving for Seoul, had just asked who was the PKR leader.

He had merely SMS-ed his officer to find out who the PKR leader was, the source said when contacted by Bernama today.

According to the source, the officer contacted PKR's Pahang liaison committee chairperson Fauzi Abdul Rahman to enquire on the matter before forwarding the information to the tengku mahkota.

Yesterday Badrulamin Bahron, the communications director in the Selangor menteri besar's office, had alleged that he was informed that the tengku mahkota of Pahang might interfere in the case.

He said the case received the attention of the tengku mahkota whom he (Badrulamin) alleged knew him personally.

"Today, the tengku instructed his senior officer to meet me to hear my version on the incident and discuss it with my lawyer.

"The impression given is that there was a high possibility that the tengku mahkota would interfere in the case to stop the dirty work of Umno," a news portal had attributed Badrulamin as saying when speaking at a ceramah in Seremban yesterday.

The Pahang Islamic Affairs Department (JAIP) on Saturday had reported nabbing a PKR leader and a married woman for khalwat at a hotel in Kuantan.  

The source added that the allegation that the tengku mahkota had instructed an aide to meet Badrulamin was completely not true.

The tengku mahkota is scheduled to return to Malaysia on March 6.
