Gov't, too, must face grilling over Cowgate

YOURSAY 'The rakyat should know how this NFC mess started, and logically it is the government of the day that should explain.'

Noh Omar ducks Cowgate at MPs' meet

your say Onyourtoes: We should not make minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) wholly responsible for this fiasco.

Those responsible for hatching this con scheme, allowing it to be implemented haphazardly and perhaps closing both eyes to the wrongdoings, should also be held accountable and charged for criminal irresponsibility and abetment.

Surely, the minister of agriculture, past and present have lots to answer to.

Anonymous_3f4a: Kota Belud MP Abdul Rahman Dahlan's assertions for an end to debate on the NFC scandal now that it's the subject of a court proceeding are absolutely atrocious, and unbecoming of a parliamentarian.

The agriculture minister owes a duty to issue a ministerial statement on the scandal as the 'executive' is constitutionally answerable to the 'legislature'. The legal proceeding does not absolve the cabinet's responsibility to answer questions raised in Parliament.

Besides the criminality of the case being brought before the courts, there are still other questions regarding the case, such as the award of the NFC project; project supervision; loan disbursements; failure to act on the Auditor-General's Report; the roles and responsibilities of the ministry's officials sitting on NFC's board during which the alleged 'irregularities' were committed, etc.

To say nothing on the scandal citing court proceeding is sheer irresponsibility and a dereliction of duty on the part of the minister.

Make Sense: Agriculture Minister Noh Omar, don't avoid our questions. You are elected by the rakyat and you have a duty to answer us on how your ministry monitored the fund disbursed to NFC.

Fencesitter: The NFC case going to court does not mean that the Agriculture Ministry's story ends there.

The rakyat should also know how this NFC mess started, and logically it is the government of the day that should explain.

1M: I wonder what would have happened if Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua or PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli had not revealed anything in the first place; more money would have gone down the drain as well as into the pockets of the corrupt Umno family.

As for Noh Omar, let's forget about him, as his only purpose of existence is to cover up as much scandal as possible.

But I challenge the BN MPs who are curious about what happened and would like to know more: do the rakyat whom you represent a favour, go ask more questions openly in the Parliament, not just at closed-door meetings.

KFC_sucks: What else can criminals do but keep silent? But let's face it Noh, the whole Malaysia knows you and your colleagues in Umno are liars and swindlers.

Matt: The BN parliamentarians were left wondering how they have been left out of the pie. They would have loved to have dipped their hands into the loot as well.

Anonymous_40f4: The senior official in the Agriculture Ministry must also be charged because they were also part of this scam.

This court case will be a sandiwara. Shahrizat will be made a Tan Sri and made CEO of a very rich GLC (government-linked company). That is probably the deal they have struck.

Anonymous: NFC's CBT (criminal breach of trust) charge is not good enough. They must go for more detailed investigations and the minister who approved the loan should be held responsible.

The PAC (Public Accounts Committee) must investigate in detail and query the cabinet ministers who had approved this NFC project and handed it to such a greedy family as Shahrizat's.

Bender: How can Noh give the answer? He's neck deep in it too.

Karma: This is just another BN trick. The case will take years to unfold. BN people will go around saying they cannot comment on NFC saying it will be subjudice. Anyway, they have never seriously commented on the scandal.

Perkasa has been stubbornly silent. And Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, who had earlier said that NFC's condo spree was okay since the money is idle, is now completely quiet.

Swkdayaks: This is the way and the truth of the Najib/Umno/BN government or the way of governance. They do not want to answer to or account for their crime for plundering and looting our country.

Malaysiawatch4.blogspot: "I refuse to answer on the grounds that it might incriminate me or other cabinet ministers" would have been an appropriate answer for Noh.
