Gombak assemblyperson Hasan Ali today attended the Selangor state assembly as an Independent representative following his sacking by PAS.

"I have no problems. I was sacked from PAS with dignity. It was not over corruption, not over sodomy,” he said cynically.

NONE Speaking to reporters after the Selangor sultan officiated the new session of the state assembly today, Hasan (right) said he intends to continue to raise issues of race, religion and royalty, his trademark rallying cry, throughout the two-week session.

He said the state assembly needs to debate the issue, and claimed that Malay special rights are being threatened by “extinction”.

"I will continue to champion this," he added.

In the present session, the fiery former exco’s seating was relegated from the excos' front row to the rear, where the Independents such as the Port Klang rep sit.

Apostasy video still 'akan datang'

Meanwhile when asked about the video proof of efforts to proselytize Muslims that Hasan had dangled before the public last month, the president of the pressure group Jalur Tiga (Jati) said it would be revealed “soon”.

Himpun placards “I ask that you wait a bit more. There are still some technical details before it can be completed,” he said curtly.

Coming after months of claiming to possess proof of concerted efforts to convert Muslims, Hasan on Feb 21 promised the video “ in two weeks ” but has yet to deliver on his word.

Catholic leader Bishop Paul Tan Chee Ing has in turn slammed Hasan for indulging in “ innuendo and insinuation ” without providing any solid evidence.

Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim said as an elected representative, Hasan is free to voice his views in the Dewan.

“As it is the rakyat who chooses the rep, he can voice whatever he thinks the rakyat needs.

“Therefore we (Pakatan Rakyat) will not hinder him,” he said when asked.

Khalid added that since Pakatan took over the state administration in 2008, they have extended the duration of the assembly sitting to allow everyone to be involved in the debates.
