Prosecutors today dropped one cheating charge against businessman Shamsubahrin Ismail, who is linked to the troubled National Feedlot Corporation (NFC).

No reason for the move was given by deputy public prosecutor Elya Ezrin Mohd Roslan to Magistrate Ho Kwong Chin today, reported Bernama .

NONE On Dec 30 last year, Shamsubahrin, 46, pleaded not guilty to charges of cheating taxi driver Limat Jonit, 57, of RM90,000 in an investment scam back in 2010.

He was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of a jail term of not less than a year and a fine.

On March 27, Limat had requested that the charges be dropped. 

Shamsubahrin still faces two charges at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court of cheating NFC’s boss Mohamad Salleh Ismail involving a sum of RM1.755 million.

He is also facing another one  at the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court of cheating a woman of RM13,000.
