The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has detected two new modes of graft; seeking sexual favours and financing tourism trips.

“Sexual favours and tourism trips are new modes of corruption.

"However, for sexual favours it is difficult to prove as witnesses are not willing to come forward, as they may be ashamed,” he said in Kota Kinabalu.

The English-language daily The Star quoted Shukri as saying money politics is the most difficult to prove among all the graft cases.

Shukri said those who received cash would never admit to vote-buying claim.

"They would say the payment was for bus/taxi fare or something else but not to buy votes.

“They are usually from the same political party and are most likely to be village friends and political allies,” the daily quoted the MACC deputy chief commissioner as saying.

Shukri said unless there were independent witnesses who could verify the case, it would be tough for the MACC to verify it.
